Anyone else misty-eyed for that glorious week in July 2015 when this stood at 12p? I know I am...
Just had my notification from my broker that DCP intends to withdraw shares and appoint administrators. Withdrawal of shares from AIM with effect from 15th May. I might see if I can get a physical paper certificate for each of the shares I hold, at least that way I'll be sorted for fire lighting material for a little while and get something useful out of the whole sorry mess...
There'll be no "next time" for me. For starters I have no money now! Seriously though, this whole debacle has destroyed the (granted, limited) respect I had for South Africa as an investment location; diminished my faith in the London administered AIM and made me question how anyone other than the massive established companies can ever hope to get anywhere. It is clear in my mind that untoward pressure was brought to bear here - the natural phenomena which befell the mine were not insurmountable and yet we are minutes away from administration. Whichever poor sod is last out of Lace, open the taps on the dam and torch anything that will burn please - don't want anything of value left for the scum who will be picking up my investment for peanuts having forced it under...
Exactly Jaf. Especially since the news from Petra in City AM today that there are signs of stabilisation in the rough diamond market... someone with deep pockets will give the current C-suite a nod and there'll be a deal shafting shareholders. The situation is fast becoming utterly laughable.
Easter Bunny is about right - promises golden eggs, turns out to be mythical...
Anyone else a Python fan? GET ON WITH IT! Either curl up and die or sort your corporate life out DiamondCorp, it's like a washed up old actor milking a cameo on daytime TV.
I too have written off my investment which is a great shame and a salutary lesson for me. All of this nonsense could have been avoided by some pretty basic steps, the upshot is: Workers going unpaid Shareholders absolutely stiffed South African investments utterly tainted - I can't trust they won't arbitrarily ruin another company Management have serious questions to answer, particularly if this goes under and they manage to get a profit out of its rebirth. Remember; unless the technical reports are all frauds there is serious wealth in the dirt under Lace, by the destruction of the legal entity controlling it someone stands to gain significantly when it resurfaces...
I've been wrong before but I'm resigned to losing all my stake in this now. I don't know if anyone here remembers the RAF Benevolent Fund collection boxes? They used to have them in Spar or Co-Op shops. They were a Perspex hemisphere on top of a spiral painted inverted cone with a hole in the centre, you put your coin in a slot on the top and through the plastic you could see it circle the hole for what seemed like ages before it finally fell through the gap. DCP feels much the same although without the reassuring knowledge that your money has gone to a good cause... oh and I never had thousands of pounds to put into a charity box, which is much the same position I'm left in now come to think of it.
I think Valency suggested 29/12/16 as a cut off for BRP publishing... should we be worried about the ringing silence - I'm sure I'll see tumbleweed floating through this board soon.
Here's to a renewal of fortune for 2017, hopefully we can return to the prices of the summer of 2015 in short order!
JSE statement this morning has to be good news? Rasmala have agreed to defer repayment as well as the IDC and Laurelton. Fingers crossed the bond holders agree as well and January 2017 might be looking like a turning point.
If Rio are in the picture I want 20p a share :) They can afford it and with current shares in issue they'd get it under £100m which for a $billion resource is surely fair? ;)
All is quiet. I hope that means all is calm? Fingers crossed for a stress-free Christmas period and a return to production in 2017!
Not to mention the BoD's avowed intent to pay a dividend when (if!) it can. Hopefully we'll have the November sale to give a further guide to the market of the strength of the asset and some proper funding on sensible terms will be secured to ensure that come the close of Q1 of 2017 there will be commercial production!
KNIGELK - thank you for that explanation. Frankly I'd probably take 10p per share at the moment anyway ;)
What's your view everyone? Particularly those regulars on this BB. I have to say I'm leaning towards supporting the resolutions. I have to say I'm not sure why people think dilution is so terrible, unless you own a significant percentage of the company's shares surely it won't make any real difference? As an example - if I hold 100,000 shares valued at 3p what do I have to fear if another million get created? Unless they're immediately dumped on the market it doesn't matter? If the company goes bust then I get zero return, I'd rather have my percentage holding decreases with the prospect of my shares becoming valued at 10p each!
Banksman - now that's a proposal! I'd happily come in on that, at least I'd have something to show for all the cash, trust, stress... and did I mention, cash.
I could probably go for another 50,000 although I'm seriously concerned about the security of any investment at the current time. Wish I'd sold at 13p two years ago!
I think I'm right in saying Valency did the calculations a little while back and it was in the order of 20 something pence? Could be wrong - can't find the post... However, even with current issues surely a mid teens price in U.K. pence is not unrealistic for a billion USD of sparkles, not to mention a settled workforce, proven sorting capacity and largely self-sufficient water position?!
This board has gone very much downhill in my view since certain posters have clung to it like limpets - adding nothing to debate but posting publicly available information and inflationary language peppered with exclamation marks. We get it, you've invested a bundle and want the price to go up - so have we, kindly shut up. I miss the thoughtful discussions between the likes of Valency, Einvestein, Jaf, Alligin, Daisan and others (sorry if I've missed your name!)
