Another excellent update this morning, the expected annual profit has been adjusted from £4.6m to £5.1m, a more than 10% increase. No wonder the share price has responded.

A quick fag packet calculation shows a potential return to Trident, at current gold prices, of $30m dollars for an outlay of $5.5m. More exploration may uncover even more gold deposits.
There's no mention of time scale, only that the mining licence application was made in December 2019. Any thoughts?

Thanks bluerill and apologies if the topic's been covered previously (I've only recently returned after an expensive experience with Camco/RedT).
The point I was trying to make is that the best product doesn't always prevail, but as you say there's plenty of opportunity for all the competing storage technologies to succeed.

There's not just an economic advantage - there are genuine safety concerns over high energy lithium-ion batteries. My hunch is that the hype over Tesla will start to fade and flow batteries (hopefully VRFB!) will eventually dominate the market.

The battle for market supremacy between lithium-ion and flow batteries reminds me of VHS & Betamax video recorders in the 1980s. Betamax was the superior product, but VHS won out in the end due to better branding, marketing and pricing.

Lithium-ion batteries, led by Tesla, are attempting to dominate the battery storage market with an inferior product in much the same way. The question is, will the superior product or superior marketing power win out this time?

Presumably the same argument can be made for wind energy.

In my view, the management inside knowledge of Emmac is a Strength. It enabled FFwd to get preferable terms on the recent CLN placing in Emmac. Once the share purchase is made, any future rises in Emmac's share price will be greatly amplified by the discounts.
Don't forget also that Ed McDermott has share options in FFwd priced at 19p and 24p. It's in his interest to get the share price to at least 30p to make the options worthwhile.

Me too, although the price looks to have got a bit ahead of itself at the moment IMO. Hoping to buy on dips.

Here are my SWOT analysis thoughts on FFwd. Feel free to add/correct/criticise!!

Strengths:
A source of cost effective lightly regulated finance for growing companies
Experienced BOD with inside knowledge of medical cannabis and gaming industry
Major shareholders are experienced investors and directors of medical cannabis and wellness companies

Weaknesses
Relatively high fixed overheads, need to liquidate substantial assets year on year to meet liabilities

Opportunities
North America medical cannabis market is maturing, huge opportunity in Europe as it's market matures.
Wellness industry worldwide offers huge potential
Online gaming industry is maturing and growing

Threats
Investee companies could fail
Competition from VCTs
Investee companies could be taken over before they've fully matured
Political or regulatory changes

I've accidentally got 150k shares. I say accidentally because I wanted to transfer some to my ISA. I bought the ISA shares and waited for the price to go up so I could sell the original shares without losing money.

The next video talked about Sweden. The UK currently pays 36 euro per tonne to Sweden to incinerate waste, and we pay to transport it there too. There's a huge opportunity here for Waste2Tricity to deal with that waste in the UK.
