There is a cognitive deficit, not a power deficit in SA... Eskom may have as much as 50Gw generating capacity by 2022, and possibly as little as 23Gw peak demand.. Sometimes lists bare little relation to reality? Hope this link works... www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2017-04-02-op-ed-eskoms-electricity-surplus-and-self-inflicted-death-spiral/
mikemike, I get your pov, but don't personally see power export to SA as being a likely market for Kibo. Even by the article referenced, SA imported 11000gwh & exported 13800gwh in 2014, and has brought new capacity online since then. However, any political erosion of Eskom stability in SA can only benefit Kibo's ambitions...
The previous SA load shedding debacle was caused by Black Economic Empowerment policies + Corruption / cronyism, not a lack of generating capacity. Another load shedding episode may be positive for Kibo, as 'security of supply' may become a selling point?
Sympathies to all who have lost in this catalogue of errors/misfortune/mischief. For some of us it may have to be Meth's in place of whiskey.. Diamonds may be forever, but not for us, not today. Would be saddened, but unsurprised, if Dcp was bought for a song by a newly formed mining company headed by a fat lady related to Zuma, otherwise known as shower-head. One useless but interesting piece of info, semi-related to lack of investor appetite, is that the no of S.Africans getting alt passports is up by 260% yoy(?). Smart money leaving....
Mr P, not my field so unable to add constructively, but thanks for your (& others) work. The frustration remains that, without response from BRP, shareholders are seemingly out in the cold with only hopium...
Very Dodgy in my opinion.. to go into administration when there Appears to be more than 1 possible suitor, plus seemingly unexplored interest in rights issue... And I see no attempt to pursue it, or engage with shareholders in any way. Who wins? Definitely not us.
Fortunately this is my first experience with the worst case scenario, but what interests me is the boards seemingly absolute disregard for shareholders. Am I incorrect in perceiving that communication since the flood has been perfunctory, at best, and zero response to proposals for alt funding options?
Likewise. As much as I want (need) Dcp to survive, Actions speak louder than words. I used to post as Bitsa, but the criminal in charge has (imho) mortally wounded the country.
To be honest I think It's likely a goner, & all our monies with it. The deafening silence Isn't encouraging, but fat lady hasn't officially taken the stage yet, so one still clings to threads of hope. Unlikely the Rand downgrade would encourage potential suitors either, so between Mother Nature, management, Gfc, Amcu & the ANC, Dcp pretty much hit every possible challenge. Guess that's why Aim/Altx is high risk😷
Think that article refers to BRP, as section 129 is business rescue.. Suspect (hope) it is just lazy media reporting!
Pretty certain I see the upturned hull of my Dcp ship blocking the harbor entrance.. but grateful for a glimmer of hope from MrP.. Overcommitted on this one and, like most, have been less than impressed by the deafening silence from Dcp. What's it to be - delisting or recapitalization..?
