Only a guess ...
1. The court case goes against BT and they have to pay £1bn+.
2. Divi cancelled to fill some of the gap.
3. Share price drops maybe 10%.
4. Draghi screws as no div to find his debt and his holding has halved in value.
5. DT offer Draghi some cash, perhaps not enough for his holding.
6. DT takeover BT.
Caught a bit of this today - dear Lord, Crozier is a charlatan. I'm the context of the post office, he looks awful. Poor recollection, no accountability. In the context of everywhere else he's worked - a miserable run - not a single success from what I can see. Almost car crash disasters. And then BT. What's he doing? How and why was he appointed? Shifty, grifting no-mark. He should be unemployed. And possibly criminally investigated.
If you held £10k of Vodafone on the date they sold Verizon and didn't sell either the Vodafone or Verizon, just reinvested divs, would you be up or down? Still unclear to me if that deal was ever any good / bad for investors.
Lightico are huge. A global outfit and market leading in their services. They win many awards and have a large volume of well known and high profile clients. I wonder if you've either looked up a PO Box address or an organisation with the same or similar name.
I'm doing alright on BT. Suspect if any of us were doing tremendously or if anything we said had an impact on the share price, it's unlikely we'd be posting on LSE. My strategy, fwiw, is believing 110 is the bottom, buying when it gets near it and selling when it's near 120. Do that a few times and roll in divs and it's golden.
I agree the board are low quality, as are both the outgoing and incoming CEOs. But BT are making a lot of money. Despite the best efforts of their highest paid. Pension liability down, debt down, revenue up. Staff numbers will halve over the next 5-10 years. Automation, low maintenance networks will significantly reduce service costs. And the divi is good. Not great but definitely not terrible. Drones, IoT and healthcare will all add a bit more cash to the pot. And they're simplifying their technology, who you've the system cost and the worker costs reduced. Holding for long-term.
