Sell in May and Go Away - could be in play again.

There is surely going to be some profit-taking before the end fo the week, a little pullback won't be a bad thing before the next move higher. The worlds economic problems remain a concern has this been fully priced into the markets, I am not too sure it has.

I love these boards, people who are saying it will rise on the open already have a position and those wanting to get in saying it will fall. Always two sides and makes for good reading.

Personally, I am hoping for a pullback to strengthen my position but who knows if that will happen (today)

Toff, You have only posted comments on 4 boards, BT, Centrica, Lloyds ad Aviva and you are negative on every one of these companies. Quick question, do you own any shares in these companies?

You only have to go on the Ignite website and case studies to see their client bases. You can then make up your own mind as to how they will be impacted

I don't disagree that they are going to take a hit on income because a proportion of their business is the commission from consumption but not all their income comes via that channel. I do think the recent acquisition will add to the overall concerns as its increased costs, (staff will be cut) but they have a good corporate client base who will be on a direct contract income so wont to be impacted by consumption. Their risk is how many of their clients will be standing in 3+ months and how they service the debt they have.

At this point in time, it is a risk to buy but the other side of that coin is it could be a bargain when looking back in 12 months

I don't doubt that but a 0.1% holding is very smallholding for the CEO, especially when he is telling everyone how great the company is and how big it is going to be. They have just taken a £60m credit facility and pitching at investor conferences, to possible red flags. Personally, I like to see the company directors increasing their holdings, that is a good strong sign that they believe in the companies model & growth.

One thing that stands out for me is why does the CEO have such a small stake in the business? He never buys shares but tells everyone else they should be. If he's that confident in the business model, why would he increase his ownership stake in the business to profit from the expected share price increase? Instead, he is out trying to buy more businesses and speaking at investment conferences. That is growth by acquisition and other peoples money, it is not growth by sales and that makes me nervous about this company.

I've heard that they have sublet a proportion of their head office building to other companies, which makes sense considering the number redundancies etc...

Morning all, Do you know think that they could be moving things around behind the scenes and relaunch under EIC and kill off Utilitywise, the brand is damaged in the industry.

Morning, read online that Woodford is selling a lot of shares from his portfolio due to clients removing their money from under his management, due to poor performance. I know he holds a big stake in Utilitywise and not seen anything about his selling his position but he could have and would help explain some of the sudden price declines.

LONDON (Alliance News) - Utilitywise PLC said Geoff Thompson reduced his holding in the consultancy firm following a transaction on Tuesday.

Thompson cut his holding to below notifiable level, having previously held a 6.0% interest.

Shares in Utilitywise closed down 15% on Tuesday at 8.80 pence each.

If you are in the energy sector on Linked in you will be seeing a lot of people saying they are getting made redundant from the company. Streamlining will help the bottom line but it a big sign the company is in trouble, they will cut the numbers but many more will jump ship as well (always happens when cuts are made). The results could come across as good and the price may bounce but this is still a ship without a captain that's sinking. God help it if the results are bad.

Very Ironic but I don't see how they will win the cases, small claims court at a guess but it could be the start of a wider change in the sector. PPI only took off when someone took it to the High Court and got a ruling (not sure that would happen in energy brokers as there are no rules!). It could change suppliers views & methods though, putting the level of commission on the invoice (good idea) but that would kill Utilitywise model because of the amounts they add on. Imagine if the supplier to your business telling you, your paying 5p/kWh to a broker!

Its clear this company is going to target utiliywise clients based on the knowledge they have. They only need to win a few to start the ball rolling down the hill and once that's happening it will be hard to stop the momentum.

Check out a company called business energy claims, look who owns it (make the link) and the background of the people that work there. If this takes off then it spells a lot of trouble for utility wise. It would be the new PPI

Could be Neil Woodford just reducing his holding!

The results might not be that bad but I don't see where the demand is going to come from for buying shares to drive up the price. Its damaged its reputation in a big way, it could be in a very limited range for a while

If they go Sub 30p then i will be buying and hold, i like a gamble and thats what it is. This company is simular to Inspired Energy (INSE) same market, with commission payments but not as large. they are trading at 21p so could be some value in this sub 30p but this company needs alot of work. Ive heard that anohter consultant has opened up a new Newcaslte office and have already filled it with 100+ staff, many jumping from UTW. the owners of this other consultant, ex senior manager/directors of UTW (i believe)
