Just back from Debenhams Oxford Street, London. This store looks great and is really really different to a few weeks ago. The store looks way more stylish and has some good mens clothing. The store has changed a lot and seems less clustered and better laid out. fingers crossed.... good luck all. I was in at 21p and had a long think last night about bailing (I got a hammering with Carillion!!) but have looked at all sides and am in for the long haul.
.... jezzz relentless this!!...people still buy clothes, furniture, shoes etc Debenhams is a profitable company with a high debt level, however the £320 million debts is on its historical lower end. This needs investigating by the fca as its soo rigged now
Well Debenhams is getting another kicking... this is relentless. How concerned are people on here about their survival due to growing debts ?
The quote in Saturdays Times from Odey asset management really supported Mike Ashely, and said he was being treated unfairly. There is definitely something going on with Ashely and Odey. Would he be allowed to block a asset sale if it were near market rate and beneficial to the company ?
While The Times story is concerning that has to be a massive long shot. If Debenhams went under it could be split into parts by administrators, and no guarantee Mike Ashley would/could buy it. There were other parties involved with HoF administration. If this happened he would have lost 10's of millions. I believe he would block the sale of Magasin du nord if it was not at a market value.
Ha... liked reading the RNS about sports direct today, shows Mike Ashley to be the true rat he is. Ashley said "share holders had stabbed him in the back repeatedly" and "true entrupenures will never be accepted".... what a cock!
This is just stupid now!! It's reported like the internet has just been invented and is destroying the high street. Buying clothes online is always risky, I gave up after sending more back than keeping. Things bought only be very often turn out to be a different size or colour.
Where can I buy cocumber ?
With the pound weak and Debenhams current share price this must be eyed up by foreign investors (American, French or Chinese ?) to buy into. I would love to see this pulled from under Mike Ashley. Sports Direct and Debenhams would never work.
Nice to see some confidence returning. Good luck to all long on this share. I need 21p to break even. I think a sale of danish business and paydown of debt will see this back to mid 20's
Mr Ashley's bad investment will turn out to be French Connection not Debenhams in a few years
For me the answer is:
1. Cut all dividends
2. Hang on to the danish business
3. Slim down and get rid of the larger stores by sub letting
4. More concessions to costa coffee and the likes. Make the stores a shop and coffee/ lunch experience
5. Kick Mike Ashley in the boll0x !!!
Some one just bought £200,000 worth...!!! (Not me🙀)
Shocked that the Debenhams board are not trying to stabilise this share price with some news. They seem to just sit back and watch the company get picked apart by shorters... this is not just down to online retailers, the internet was around a little big time ago!!!
Well no surprise this morning!!! This is a rigged share price. Can someone explain the minimum offer Mike Ashley would be allowed to offer ?
Just mentioned on the News at 10.... what a non story. All retailers are struggling so Debenhams call in some experts (KPMG) to help them.... what did people want them to do, nothing ? The company is profitable and has a good set of assets. Debt is too high and needs to come down, but hopefully an asset sale could help. I want to see the dividend cut totally. (I am long, and bought at 21p)
I don't buy the "Mike Ashley and Crispin Odey" being in on it together theory. If this went HoF way Mike Ashely would have lots a huge amount, many millions. Is there any real proof he directly lent the share to Odey ? Sports Dorect own 29% of Debs and Odey 8%, but that holding could be another investor loaning.
Thanks DC2007, I sure hope I break even one day. Very concerning by how quite management have been. On a positive the oxford street Debenhams and s now stocked by a bit less and looks a lot cleaner and better, seems a busy store.
"I am long on Debenhams"..,,,
I am looking by on Debenhams and bought in heavily at 21p... this has turned into a bad joke now. Board of directors must come out with a statement signalling what they are up to. I am now certain of the following:
- shorts are not going to close and clearly smell blood
- Mike Ashley will not make a better d for Debenhams and will not cut a deal with current management
- Debenhams is struggling to sell their Danish business for market value.
