RE: Yara and Atome31 Jan 2025 15:48
Here is the translation......
As part of a commitment to sustainable production, representatives of the Board of Directors of the companies Atome Energy and YaraBela met with the Deputy Minister of Mipymes, Gustavo Giménez, and specialists from Rediex to analyse investment opportunities in the production of green ammonia fertilisers for export purposes in the region.
It should be remembered that, in July 2024, these firms visited the MIC to announce the signing of a Trade Conditions Agreement, for the production and purchase of this material, taking advantage of Atome Energy's infrastructure, which positions the country as a sustainable and green production platform.
During the meeting, the possibility of YaraBela developing a production plant in Paraguay in alliance with Atome Energy was addressed. In this context, an overview of the country's competitive advantages in terms of industrialisation and its potential as an export platform for the entire region was presented.
The meeting talked about the project of YaraBela being able to develop a plant in the country in conjunction with Atome. In that sense, he took the opportunity to make a country presentation, showing the benefits that the country offers for industrialisation and above all, for the international projection from Paraguay for the entire region.
"We talked about the conditions of Paraguay and the project that Atome Energy has in Villeta, the logistical conditions through the waterway, the potential to develop sustainable production thanks to the green and renewable energy that the country has, and they mentioned to us that calcium nitrate and ammonium fertilisers will be produced in the Paraguayan plant with a view to supplying the local market and also for export," said Deputy Minister Giménez.
He maintained that for the MIC the agreement between the two companies was key, where the structure of Atome in Villeta means a huge strategic opportunity that Yara seeks to take advantage of for the regional market, positioning Paraguay as a centre of green production
The agreement
According to the alliance between these firms, it covers the long-term supply of all the production of ammonium nitrate and calcium from the renewable plant of Atome Energy, where the firm Yara will be responsible for marketing and selling these fertilisers under its recognised Yara product line, absorbing 100% of the total production for the year 2027.
From that period Paraguay will be an exporter of green fertilisers, one of the global trends to decarbonise production chains.
