From another BB. Look like IDB is approved.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating 🎉
Whilst this board approval isn't the end of our debt financing journey, it's undoubtedly a critical milestone—and one I'm incredibly proud our first project at ATOME has achieved. ✅
Any investment that reaches the IFC - International Finance Corporation IFC Board has endured months of rigorous scrutiny. The business case, technical evaluation, and major agreements are examined down to the finest detail. 🔍 Sponsors and partners undergo comprehensive due diligence on both capability and integrity.
But the process goes far deeper. The team must contextualize how the project benefits the host country, how it aligns with the Bank's broader strategy, and rigorously assess its environmental and development impact. 🌍 Does it benefit society? Does it help alleviate poverty? Is the project transformational? does it have climate benefit? and so on These aren't checkbox exercises—they're fundamental questions that shape every investment decision.
The final board paper is then presented to 25 executive directors representing the IFC's 186 member countries and shareholders. Each one must be convinced that the project merits investment. 🤝
It's difficult to fathom the sheer number of hours that incredibly talented people dedicate to each project. The 80/20 rule simply doesn't apply at IFC—or indeed at most development finance institutions. The work is done completely, the questions are answered thoroughly, or the project does not go forward.
So yes, I'm proud of this milestone. I'm proud of our team who have worked tirelessly on this achievement. And I'm deeply thankful to everyone at IFC who burned the midnight oil to help us reach this approval. 🙏 (you know who you are)
Onward to the next phase, as our friends at IDB Invest FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and European Investment Bank (EIB) are currently going through their own equivalents as we look to finalize the debt funding and documentation. 🚀
