Metro Bank (LON:MTRO) had its price objective upped by analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. from GBX 140 ($1.84) to GBX 160 ($2.10) in a research report issued to clients and investors on Friday.

Bets against Britain pay off as profits surge at Odey's hedge fund

Hedge fund tycoon Crispin Odey's wager against the pound has paid off as profits at the Boris Johnson donor's investment firm soar.

Profits at Odey Asset Management rose 81pc to £16m for the year to April 2019, according to accounts seen by The Telegraph. Mr Odey is believed to have taken £3.8m from the profit pool, up significantly on last year.

Mr Odey, known as one half of the City's "Posh and Becks", was among the hedge fund managers who cashed in on the downfall of Metro Bank early last year. He had the biggest short position in the bank in March, when £1.3bn was wiped from its market value.

seem v. professional to me, and despite admitting that the task is perhaps bigger than he originally appreciated, the image I have of our CEO is one with sleeves rolled up, not quaffing with the boys.

with PDL, the market value of each share is less than face value - therefore, we either go bust or this MUST go above 10p for them to do anything. With GEMD up 20% off recent low, I am thinking the slow stablisation of diamond prices might just mean good times for PDl.

been watching HUR also. was in and out with small profit mid 30s. after PDL last year, even a small working holding by a short fund can wreck havock on a smaller market cap. i have not tried HUR again because I thought it might fall to 20p (bit more positive than Icarus42) but i know nothing.

that is not my point. over the last six months, just who has actually posted company information or news related thereto and who has discussed cars, chess, electronics, EUA, SXX, short funds and anything but company news?
It is sooooo nice of folk to come on here and tell us all they so much want to invest but they just can't for no good reason related to the company itself. as if the agenda is not self-evident. at least IBB was clear on his position and his profit from taking a short and negative outlook.
