Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
At 10.00 this morning TCG had made it back to 85.5 which I regard as an insight into where we are going. The faltering reaction to the results is not surprising and the intervention by Standard has had an impact and that intervention may be no bad thing. Faltering but holding up. With a smooth ride for a couple of months (no serious global troubles) then I feel safe and my optimism remains in place despite patience being stretched. As ever gla
..is all I can say. Madness. The way this share reacts. Couldn't resist a punt at 83 this morning.
TC are performing efficiently in Gambia. Trump effect, pound, Brexit, all influencing the price. Time to buy IMO !! GLA
IMO some blow back form TUI's restructuring plus Panorama ran all over them with its Monday report on Tunisia shootings. Usual travel volatility.
"resilient...business model" key words for me Puffy. The 108 you refer to takes us back to Jan 2016 approx and that figure makes sense for early 2017. Naturally people are selling having had lows in 50s and 60s. I have capitalised too. It's taken a fascinating stroll round the block this morning.
Co-op is a bit toxic after all its troubles. the sooner TCG get the signage done the better. The market has been fairly positive again and the progress is slow but sure. The Co-op news is another positive step. Harriet's housekeeping project is still in action maybe. The continued presence of Cook on the high street is great if its visible. I am very happy the way this is going.
Randfontein - first person to comment on the bond and I think there were 3 notices on this subject last week. My guess is that it is a positive marker despite the hazards you mention. Pushing on a little bit today against the Italy news and knock on in Europe. TUI might be looking over their shoulder occasionally. TCG now seem to have clarity about objectives. Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia could be back in the mix by Feb.
i have been admiring the calm that existed here then suddenly a little outbreak of panic over very little evidence of anything seriously going off balance. This has been a solid forward march which will flicker from time to time according to nothing more than general sentiment and trading. As you may know I am a supporter of the Exec management and set against an appalling sequence of global events has managed pretty well.Chill !! the 100+ number from Jan 2016 mentioned below is well within reason given the size of TCG. Feeling very happy albeit still short of a few quid.
25 July I took a speculative plunge at 56 having seen my earlier entries a bit exposed !! In short I believe in the potential of TCG and while the number crunchers crunch i am looking at the marketing and the hopes for the long term diversity and expansion. I very much Like Frank's focus on brand loyalty and the new hotel line carrying the Cook name says things about this policy. If Cook becomes again synonymous with quality and value then this time next year everything will be very different. I have both capitalised and remained in. 80 is sensible for the time being. It will flicker but not die. GLA
Long live irony. Figured that was the case. Truth is Guo is the man and Fosun the company. Guo was seen there buying a new motor for his Portuguese lover who is reputed to be involved in a large hotel project in Lisbon. To be continued.
Investor exhaustion is about right. Yesterday's Easy Jet results were just about OK given the background, Tunisia might be close to opening up and Turkey and Sharm couldt be reasons to be cheerful. Although having Erdogan in the background is a stability problem. Finally sitting at or above 70 is OK for me. At 80 my heart will start beating again. Not long to wait for the news.
too late for research. Small problem of a presidential election Tuesday. Remember Brexit? Hold tight and hope!! Only 2 working days to go. Blood will surely be spilt. GLA
YES !! It's stable at least and as long as it remains above 65 and finally gets past 70 and sticks we should be fine.. I've stopped posting here because it became frustrating. Travel has bee beaten up and none more so than TCG. Enjoy your investment. 80 is realistic by mid November. But...
It is a great relief to read some sensible, informed comment after the petulant rant by Rbrand. To declare my hand: professionally I did PR in travel during the 1990s. Like many others I looked on in blank amazement at the outdated mindset of Thos Cook. They were still doing the 1950s Grand Tour then. The company was an anachronism floundering around trying to find its place in the world. Fankhauser and HG have dragged the company into the 21st C. TCG does not automatically deserve life after near death but to my mind it is doing certain things well - one of them is PR. Fank's moves after the Greece toxic gas debacle was masterful and finally compassionate.Thos Cook are getting a much better hearing in the media. Rbrand clearly lacks the ability to disseminate information. ****ging off a CEO is pointless and the criticism of one individual is baseless. This is a work in progress and TCG has the brand recognition which will definitely feed into marketing strategy once all the house work is done. I am expecting prestige, customer service, product delivery. Other UK brands have found a way back - Barbour for instance. Rbrand - you have the intellect of a snail.
...receives a timely thumbs up in the Observer Business today. In research on customer complaints, journo Donna Ferguson got an email response from Fank within 2.5 hours and it was sent while he was en route to China and is described as a "very cheerful message". The bad days of PR cock ups might be behind us and the face of Peter Fankhauser beaming from the page gives me cause to similarly smile !!! Those who faired less well included BA and Virgin. Good luck all
Oh dear Harry you are making Frank the scapegoat. There is absolutely no evidence that he is to blame and ample PR evidence that he is dragging this company from the drain. HG did the housework and it was ruthless and needed. The old company is dead and buried. I am long with this but it is now a great shorters' product as Fred has pointed out. We can't stop that happening. You will definitely get your 77. i added at 55 making my position a little more tolerable. We will not see that number again in the near future. Kick me if we do!! Good luck
Sound move - not a time to completely abandon ship. Good luck all the same
... is 77 too early to get out. Such is life.
...opens at 75 after a lull yesterday. Never let it be said the City is corrupt!!! Now I wonder if Jupiter's chips on the table last night were just an accident of good fortune. My patience is truly stretched. Have a good day. Harry!!
