Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
The operative word in Barron's comment is "if".
Nice thread running here. I am quite relieved we have at last reached a conclusion. As we all knew , for a long time, Fosun was going to be the winner. Now we need the detail. It could be good and maybe terrible for us. So what? It's a live business which makes it interesting.
Your last para is the key. Debenhams and Flybe are not good comparisons as they are not international brands. I gather that like me , you anticipated this outcome and Fosun will not be sentimental about investors we see posting here. The BOD has already been ruthless in the past, memorably when very bad numbers were suddenly released a day early. Effectively they have done it again. Like you I too am hanging around for a moderate return. At least the company is still active and whatever structure unfolds Thomas Cook will almost certainly become a very big brand in China.
As a "bird" and an investor I should comment Wiggy. Generally I like the tone of your comment. The utter garbage emanating from these people is astounding. Their boyish glee at seeing others suffer in the playground is typical of immaturity. Must admit women are quite capable of similar behaviour but rarely do it while typing one -handed. And for the record this will climb quite sharply again towards 50. If it doesn't TCG should be consigned to history. I am a long term investor - my best trade was a relatively short time ago during the HG period when I sold for 187. Have fun
...ladies and gentlemen. The sun came up as usual and not much has changed. Those of you new to TCG should understand that these report days are shot through with uncertainty; misery even. Long term holders know the situation well. And still she survives. It's a powerful brand name. Only the Chinese know the value. If Fosun remove their logo from the Wolves shirt I might get terribly worried. As ever GLA. As usual tomorrow we get the true picture.
£3.75
What's the point of these guesses?
This is not another Debenhams. Different product entirely, different marketing. The presence of Fosun ever on the perimeter has interested long term holders for a few years. Their strategy holds the key to everything now even if they only cherry pick. Big re-structuring will follow soon.
I missed an opportunity to unload my moderate investment through a matter of personal events. It stood then, last year at over 130. Within what seemed like seconds it crashed. But I am still in and I will definitely recover some of that loss. Promise. Cook has one outstanding advantage - the name. No other country enjoys that brand advantage like Britain. Think Rolls Royce, Burberry etc etc. It's not an automatic guarantee of successI but it helps. Investors need to be aware not of the Thos Cook shops and UK holiday makers, but of the prestige attached to the marketing of travel from China, under the Cook name. Millions of people with disposable funds for leisure. If Fosun persevere this will be a major success and the infrastructure is in place to start building bigger. Shorters have a limited understanding of, or interest in the broader commerical and marketing scenario. Good luck as ever.
I POSTED THIS 6th December. It still stands IMHO
...the storm is over. It's a winter commitment for investors not players. This is a very nice price. Surviving 20 was a worry. TCG will not go out of business. Changes will occur. In the past the cold months have been fertile for investors in TCG. I would like to see 60 by end of Jan. Since re-investing I have gone from 20 - 30 in no time. Still a distance from full recovery for me but this company is still in development. Being invested over long periods gives you insight. Good luck. You need to lose to learn
...how the contributors here have changed so much. I guess the madness will continue as TCG heads for 60 !! Have fun in January

Utter bunk

...has returned. I have made a hasty return at 20 but the stop loss is in place! Just looked at my earliest trades - 18/102013 bought at 148. Sold a slice 3 months later at 187. Halcyon days !! The company is alive if not well in 2018.
This is a winter performer.
If you get in at 14p you are hopefully on a new project. It has to change or go out of business.Take over - maybe. Infra structure if not the personnel seem to be in place. The Chinese like ready made Euro brands.
Eating humble pie. Just didn't see this total collapse. I am out now at 28 but have had a reasonable ride over 5 years !! It is taking much longer than I imagined to modernise this company. TCG is the personification of our country as it stands. TCG needs to take a progressive stance, which broadly I think is happening. Puffy - you got the big climb about right - this summer 140. And your latest at 12 is definitely possible. TCG needs to pack up its bucket and spade and look firmly East. GLA. I will be back!
Better to get this confirmation on Tuesday than Thursday. We knew bad news was coming and they kindly gave it to us sooner rather than later.
Somebody bought 100,000 at 33.79 this morning. Considering they went to 39.4 within 2 hours I regard that as a result. This is not the end of TCG. Sorry to be so up beat. I am with this to the end and if it does die, (which it won't) I will post a humble apology. Good riddance to the divi by the way. 60 by Friday !!!!!!!!
" I AM OUT....
HAVE NEVER INVESTED IN SUCH AS (sic) STOCK AND NEVER WILL AGAIN"
Rogerandout 31st March 2016.
He keeps heading his posts "Dead and buried". Has Roger snuffed it?
Did he die after that 2016 statement and are we now getting messages from beyond the grave? Or were you kidding us Roger? You didn't sell you cheeky chap. Did you?
Interesting piece of info MissG. The last time I stumbled on your name was in those riotous times of COMS I think. I don't often dine at this table often these days. Nor Tiffany's either. Sob.

In the final analysis the Motley piece says it doesn't know but it's worth a punt. After 5 years of following TCG all the way up and then down again I agree. What Motley does state is that this share has been over done with its recent decline and that's my opinion. Remember this share touched 130 before a bizarre decline when they announced their last results 24 hours early on a Monday morning. Thanks for that TCG !!The daft statements about a drop to 30 are baseless. We may get lucky next Monday. If May gets some kind of deal this weekend the market will react in our favour I guess. And I emphasise I "guess". As ever GLA
