You forget JD sports was a sinking ship with debts of £50m in 2012. Back in April 2012 JD had a full takeover offer from Pentland Group for £100m. Nowadays JD average £1bn net profit every year.

There is a reason why Ashley wanted Debenhams. They have 300m hits on their website annually. The cost per customer acquisition to set up a retail website from scratch to do those numbers do not make it worth any new company to start up in these days. Intidex and LVMH own a multitude of high class global brands and international property assets and cannot be compared to Boohoo. Boohoo is more like Shein or Temu but without the 2 week waiting time to receive a product. Back in the day, their Debenhams arm is more comparable to Next given the loyal customer following. The difference is the sucessive management took Next to new levels unlike what Green did
