"Who is the "they" in this sentence the pilots or the airhostess etc ? "
errrr.... the aircraft was owned by prigozhin, anybody boarding, staff or otherwise, knew exactly who they were with and being so close to him physically will certainly been vetted and even signed contracts with him personally.
Like I said, the manner in which Pig and his entourage moved about, flying over Russian turf like that for example, shows how much he believed he held such a strong hand, the Kremlin would not dare. Did he miscalculate? No, he didn't. There are a number of private armies all over Russia and they are utterly loyal to their group and leader. Virtually cult followings. The standing order will have been clear, if Putin attacks then the Kremlin deal was worthless and so the original assault on the capital should go ahead no matter how disenfranchised the Wagner group is. Putin has made the grave error here, he things he has disbanded Wagner and broken the cult following in just a couple of months. Wagner will be orientated to specific target and will act independently in small units if communication is disrupted. Give it a few days for some logistics and then watch.
Putin is now the dead man walking. His execution in retaliation is guaranteed - although I think it more likely he will die caught in a fire fight between his own guards. Ukraine intelligence will currently be receiving large amounts of very sensitive targeting information from members of Wagner right now as they try to use Ukraine to carry out attacks on Russian high command and leaders. The tables turn very quickly in war sometimes.
