The word you use 'cull' implies that existing staff are now surplus to requirements. Shame, but it has to come to pass. They've been riding the gravy train for so long that it has become an entitlement. All entitlements come to an end, sooner or later. In the case of Openreach engineers it will come sooner than they think. Never mind, they've got the ISAs they keep boasting about to look forward to and golden goodbyes. What's not to like? Well done, lads. You've earned permanent gardening leave. Same goes for the BoD and its ridiculous woke policies. Be gone with you all and let common sense prevail.

Wonderful and inspiring jokes Pip. Keep them rolling in the aisles. For the benefit of the Openreach engineers, that's not the British Isles. It's the aisles in church they should be attending, to learn about family values, as well as the dangers of drink, drugs and fornication out of wedlock. Then, and only then, will the light finally dawn on them; namely, that BT is a lost cause as an investment and will continue to be so until it is taken over and Openreach sold off. Having said that, the heroic efforts of all BT engineers to keep the UK's only true communications network up and running in all weathers will be rewarded with permanent gardening leave and huge golden handshakes in the very near future. You missed my point fleccy. Quoting from BT, I said BT's Quantum Secure Network won't be up and running until 2035 - not that the technology wasn't available today. And if you think the departure of Mittal Bros is unlikely, think yet again. We have a government that appears to want the UK to fail in every respect. Just my opinion, of course.

The UK is becoming a place where it's harder and harder to do business and make a profit. That, in the end, is what business is all about. If a business is not making a profit, it cannot afford to pay its workforce or its shareholders. That is my concern about BT. Will Mittal Bros cut their losses and call it quits? If they do, it would be an unmitigated disaster for BT - the likes of which no one wants to see, including myself. Put your thinking caps on, chaps, and think about that.

Let's face it. BT is in a parlous state. It's cutting costs while losing business. It has a huge debt pile and the pension plan won't be fully-funded until 2031 at the earliest. Question is not should there be a bid, but what will happen if there is not one? It would seem that the entire business is in free-fall. Everything is being or has been sold off. The question I ask myself is why can't this company drag itself out of the sludge? There are multiple reasons - starting with an engineering workforce and a leadership team that's woefully out of touch with the emergency surgery that's required to save the struggling behemoth. My sincere hope is that Mittal Bros will soon take this tired old bull by the horns and reinvigorate it. A bid, yes. Followed by the swift selling off of Openreach to release shareholder value. It can't be long now. Let's keep our fingers cross that the bid is imminent. Merry Christmas all.

Oh yes, now BT will be owning the internet and data transfer??? Just like all the other pie in the sky and failures of the past - starting with video conferencing. BT were pioneers. Look what happened there! BT turnaround? Cutting costs while losing customers is a recipe for disaster. The turnaround has been happening for 10 years. Looks like another 10 to go before it finally gets rid of its 5,500 analogue exchanges. Ah, and the value of retrieved copper cable. A billion or so - again in another 10 years. Come up with some good news about today or tomorrow, or even next year. Not this continual fluff about futures. Only one thing will save BT - a bid from Mittal Bros, followed by the swift offloading of Openreach and its pesky engineers and huge pension liability. Merry Christmas to all and their ISAs. LOL

Cult figure? I wouldn't necessary spell it that way, old chap. How many times have I told you that cutting costs while losing customers hand over fist is the road to disaster? John Lewis have done the same thing, to no avail. Bet I haven't told you that as many times as you've told me that BT is a great investment - and is still one today; even though the rewards will not be seen for another 10 years. It's always 'coming years'. Never this year, next year, or the year after. The only thing that will save BT is a bid and the selling off of Openreach and it's workforce. People who go on and on and on about BT being a great investment are only interested in hanging onto their overpaid jobs. They are mostly engineers, prepared to strike at the slightest hint of a buyout. Never mind. They will get golden handshakes when they are assigned to permanent gardening leave. Three cheers. I'am not a troll snoopz. I have a perfect right to express my opinion about BT being a basket case. And so it will remain, until the bid comes in and Openreach is sold off. Meanwhile, you chaps can go on about what a wonderful investment BT is - attempting to convince yourselves and others that your investments are the answer to a maiden's prayers, when you have clearly only made a pittance of a REAL terms (only just above inflation) over the past 15 years (see post passim). Talk about copper cable retrieving, exchange closures, drone deliveries etc, etc all you want. But it won't change the the reality. BT is done for without that takeover. I'm waiting patiently that it will come to pass. Hopefully, the Good Lord will bring us good news this Christmas.

The only thing that needs offloading is Openreach, it's engineers and their pension plans. The Brothers tell me that's all underway now. None of you would know that, of course, as you're not privilege to the information I have, thanks to my enduring relationship with the Mittals. Bid soon.
