What impact would you say this has this on gkp please.
Agreed the div is priced in but I can’t imagine cairn would have gone blindly forward with the legal outlay to win the case then sit back and receive nothing. They knew from the start who they were dealing with. Obviously just my opinion but to me it wouldn’t make sense to have done it all for nothing.
Schatzy57 , I am just glad we are in agreement of this. Can only see this moving one way from here.
Having thought hard about this it appears to me there will be a benefit to sh. Going by my calcs below ( if it’s correct) If you used the divi to buy back the number of shares you have lost, at the price it was calculated you would have the same amount of holding albeit at larger % of the company due to less shares in issue. The sp must go up in that case surely?
That’s my take on it. Also as my figures would suggest that out of each 100 shares you hold now, you will only get 85 x next proper dividend.
The way I see it. Say
100 shares @£2.13 = £213 holding
Divi @ 0.32p x 100 = £32 in bank
Now
Shares total value = £181 holding
Share reduction
181/213 is 85 new shares
85 shares x £2.13 =£181 holding
+ divi = £32
Total = £213 what you started with.
Could be totally wrong as only my view but would explain why there will not be a stampede. All makes no sense to me really. Please feel free to condemn or clarify my figures. Any sp increase is likely to be the colossal amount of money now owed to Cairn and growling positivity in general. Happy 2021.
Should be already. I think there is much scepticism regarding receipt of the India award coming to fruition without lengthy campaign in an attempt to reduce or avoid payment. Personally I think all is very positive and will hold and top up between now and takeoff.
Marked unknown is a buy
Agree B. But you’ll have to be pretty sharp to do that without hindsight. This sp is clearly under its potential. I will just hold in hope my uneducated opinion is correct. For me to make profit it will come out of a losers pocket. Best of luck to you all.
Hi short, am relatively, but been reading for some time. Newbies opinions are seldom received gracefully as some diehards think they have a divine right to comment on here and value their opinions very highly. Mainly there are massive ramping opinions of increases and decreases but IMO, having been a holder for many years, this sp will see-saw upwards gradually should the status quo remain and oil/COVID outlook continue positively. Where it gets to who knows but I was in small at the £5 mark but increased of late and finally showing a healthy blue + I know fa but people need to hold IMO and stop losing there bottle.
You filter out the rampers and day traders, the crap about unrelated subjects and personal grievances this sp has a sustained route upwards stop panicking when it drop a couplle percent. You won’t guess thiss one.
That was for baccusal
If you trade as you say around that level of +-.3333333daily plus transactions. How much would I have to risk to make a profit???
Nice . Where do you get 38p obviously done some calculations. With no calculations, I am well invested, but I am worrying I bought on a high.
Waffen. Regards to you. Just have a great Xmas. At that level you it cannot get worse.
Raleigh. Great posts. This doesn’t need to fly unless you are a day trader but the input you have is all positive and backed by fact it would seem. A rise of the sp here is gradual but positive IMO.
When the shares vol sold are 1million and bought is 2 million, how on earth does the sp go down. Any ideas or expert care to explain this please. Thank you.
If more bpd or debt is decreased obviously sp will go up. That's the future. Today oil is up. So should sp. it's positive TODAY.
Unlikely given today’s start.
