Surely the impact of shorts are downward when they open and upward when they close, so if they close and had to buy and we still finished down then it didn't matter 🤷

Im not an economist by any stretch, But interest were raised where they were to curb inflation that was standing at over 10%. If rates of 5% were needed to bring inflation down from 10% to 2.5% then it feels that 4.75% is to high for the remaining 0.5%. I know it doesn't work like that but saying its above the target so no cuts are needed, doesn't either. Their s a lag and headwinds to all this that complicates things no end.

I'd argue, that yes VOD was on very shakey ground, returns at or below there cost of capital, and yes a downturn results in destroying shareholder value. But they are not weakening themselves, the divestments and merger are on areas of the business that generating ROCE's that were below there overall ROCE, Which as mentioned was underperforming, so removing those below the average increases the average to the point FCF would be accretive.

Not disputing how they move, but the fundamentals underpin the SP.

FF3, appreciate some of your knowledge. I'm accountant so base my portfolio on fundamentals. Don't really understand TA. Don't really understand how historical buying patterns influence future. But I also don't really understand how the MM move the price. So you say they are a bunch of shares to be sold, would this drive the price down? to get them filled? But then you say buyers are in control, which appears to translate to todays buys vs sells, but again why doesn't that push the SP up? finally how can it be both, or is the available stock from Fridays sell off? and now they are being bought into, and perhaps not enough demand of this availability hence the SP stuttering today?

So full of it. Was ready to pull the trigger higher than 85p, but "Couldn't", now you can't because the SP is higher than you want 🤥

But ABT is a fairer reflection of future earnings, the past is the past, SP is based on what the future will bring, and the ABT is a fairer reflection of that than the statutory PAT which has a bunch if "One offs"

Down 11% myself after today's quick turnaround. Annoyed with myself as put a 120p target for myself, and passed the opportunity to bank 10% when it rebounded to 103 after the last drop. ah well c'est la vie

TBF, its simple supply and demand. The supply isn't there for your demand, but the broker is saying it will be if you pay a 3% premium. I know I'm not selling for a 3% premium to todays value, so doesn't seem an unreasonable value in that context.

I saying if you want to Block buy then you have to offer a premium to secure them shares. Not saying its 3%, but you can't expect to pay the same as a retail investor buying a few thousand shares. As the supply isn't freely available so the rate as to create more supply

You could approach Pentland directly and offer off-book. But seriously, its a market, what do you expect, you want to buy a lot of shares, that purchase should cause some adjustment to the SP, but you want to circumvent that and claim the stock market is broken because you can't.

Its all baloney anyway, you've done nothing but suggest this share is going down, but that your going balls deep in it!
