https://proyectopuente.com.mx/?p=710853 Bacadéhuachi, Sonora.- Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Secretary of Energy, Rocío Nahle, signed the decree for the nationalisation of lithium in Bacadéhuachi, Sonora.
This lithium mining reserve comprises 234,850 hectares, located in the municipalities of Arivechi, Divisaderos, Granados, Huásabas, Nacori Chico, Sahuaripa and Bacadéhuachi.
During his visit to Bacadéhuachi, the president stressed that lithium will become part of the nation for the benefit of the people of Mexico.
"We come to inform you that the decision has been made to use that strategic mineral known as lithium for the benefit of the people of Mexico, that the nation is the owner of this strategic mineral. I want to tell you first that regardless of this strategic mineral and other riches, minerals and natural that our country has, what we consider fundamental is the value of the people of Mexico.
What we Mexicans are worth, that we possess cultures that come from far away and that has allowed us to resist all adversities and calamities, tremors, floods, fires, bad governments, pandemics, pests such as corruption. We have resisted for our cultures and for the reserve not of lithium and oil, but for the reserve of cultural, moral and spiritual values of our people," said the federal president.
Alfonso Durazo commented that this visit of the president of the republic is historic, so he celebrates that he has a special interest in the economic well-being of the families of Bacadéhuachi and surrounding areas.
"Here I am in Bacadéhuachi, in the high Sierra de Sonora in the deep heart of our state, first president, in the essence of Deep Sonora is the best of the future and past.
Lithium is a mineral for making batteries and products, and President López Obrador's decision to nationalise lithium is related to that taken in its mere by Presidents Lázaro Cárdenas and López Mateos to sovereignly protect the resources of our country so that their benefits remain here to favour our economies and families, "said the governor of Sonora.
"Our state is fortunate to have been endowed by the nature of these rich minerals. We have, here in Bacadéhuachi, the largest lithium deposit in the country; we are the only graphite producer in the country," Alfonso Durazo said.
He specified that lithium, graphite and copper are necessary minerals to boost the automotive industry in the state, since according to a mandate of the President of the United States, Joe Biden, by 2030 at least 50% of the vehicles produced by companies in the neighbouring country, must be electric.
Rocío Nahle, Secretary of Economy, said the following: "In the Ministry of Economy we promote the dimensions with a social dimension and lay the foundations of a clean energy policy for the next 50 years."

Tesla to expand operations to Mexico, official says:
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Electric automaker Tesla has chosen Mexico as a location to expand its operations, and Tesla head Elon Musk will speak with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Mexico's top diplomat said Friday.
Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said the date of the call between Musk and Lopez Obrador would be given later Friday afternoon. He declined to name the specific location for Tesla's Mexico expansion.
