KO
You can not really mean the RNS is a joke.
Please talk with January and take on your football supporter glasses and repeat after me:
Enquest IR is the best in the world and they always overdeliver to private investors. Their time is bettrr spent on working 110% on deals instead of informing the market.
"Why not tax the banks after all the taxpayer bailed them in 2008 there taking it in but no mention of it"
They are taxing it because they can. Not very easy to move oil fields and on top of that ppl are not very symphatetic to oil.
Still very surprised about ghe outrage and sense oc fairness on this forum. Bot of course it is different when it hits your own pocket.
Stop moaning and write whomever you voted for about instead.
What surprised me most was that one can not use privous losses to offset the new tax. This in a sector with very volitile prices, where price was zero like two years earlier. The government did not reduce taxes then, But do not allow loses to be used now. Looks like it does not matter how high oil prices will get, the upside will be capped by taxes in UK.
I am hoping the part of using losses is changed, but seems very unlikely. Not seen much talk about that part.
Seems there was good reason for the market to value North American firms much higher.
It is not clear to me if the windfall tax is already in effect.
Or is it a proposal that might change while going through parlament?
It says the windfall tax is gor prifits from 26 of May. Which sounds to me it is already law.
Romaron
Suddenly you care about fairness. When it hits your own pocket you can go about and moan post after post about fairness.
And I guess the other reason you moan is that the windfall tax is not ABs fault. Then it is ok to moan.
LOL.
@january
If you actually read OUs then you know that there are several of them coming out per year not only in May.
So your logic is that OUs in May do not contain net debt. But all other OUs do or is also based on the moon cycle?
And do not forget the exception of 2020.
Does not sounds like a tradition to me.
I am sure the highly competent Enquest team can explain the logic when to expect net debt in an OU.
As somebody said the OU is carefully crafted, and if they omit net debt it is for a reason.
Or maybe you do not think that Enquest IR is capable of writing and carefully crafted OU.
"Was hoping that ENQ wold break with tradition and give some debt info, but hey ho we will have to wait until September."
What tradition January? That of not being consequent and incompetent?
Do you actually read the OUs, most do mentions net debt.
Companies that only sometimes mention things usually have something to hide, when they do not avoid mentioning things. Or maybe the highly competent Enquest decided that such information is not necessary in an OU. And you are fine with it since it means there will be a deal announced soon.
I give the OU 10 out of 10. You really get exited after reading it and truly understand how Enquest have been transformed into a money making machine.
I am going to be really surprised if we do not reach 60p before noon.
"No. I'd rather see how they've been operationally executing - that's the only thing that matters to me"
You got an OU today from the highly competent Enquest team where they again went below what can be considered minimum amount of information an OU should contain.
Maybe some random guy on internet can ask IR about more information and post it on the forum. Seems that is one of the preffered channels of communications by the IR team.
"They did announce it but not formally. They did NOT and have not announced it formally."
So that is what you consider competent?
1 Announce it.
2 Forget to do it formally
3. No official info that it is not going to happen.
Your standard of cmpetence is really high. Is this standard in England? Sounds like circus to me.
"According to IR the operational update will be out in May, so this week is highly likely."
But if there is no OU this week, then this of course a beilliant move by Enquest. And just another sign hlw hard working and competent they are.
Checked the distance from London to Davos.
2h by plane
14h with car
13d with public transport
3d on bike
8d walking
I guess AB walked from London and that is why the AGM was moved and and the "logistics" reason.
That there was no proper AGM notice sent out mid April was of course brilliant move by Enquest. Nothing to do with incompetence.
Also brilliant and sign of excellence to write that the AGM is 19/5 in the AR.
It is all a cunning plan that we mere mortals can not really understand. But all will be revealed.
"you thinking the most logical reasoning is incompetence by the company is frankly the reasoning of a madman."
Everything about AGM has strict rules. If you miss sending out AGM notice and have to move AGM date, this is sure sign of incomptence. Alternatively they did not send out notice since they knew it would not take place 19/5. But then they are incompetent due for a bunch of other reasons.
I agree that **** happens. But it happens alot more to incomptent people. Which Enquest is proving over and over again.
NortherMonkey.
Multiple persons on this board have brought up annoucement or deal being the reason. Did not see you call them out on that.
You only have problem with the person pointing out the most obvious and logical reason.
Are you also a Spurs fan? Would explain quite a bit.
What was your logical reason? So many ridicolous reasons being brought up so you please forgive me that I have hard time separating you guys.
GOPci.
So you do not want to be invested in an incomptent company. But do not care why AGM moved. That defies logic.
Northernmonkey.
Yes, I am ok investing in an incomptent company. My bet is that not even such incomptence that Enquest have shown over and over again, manages to screw up completly with oil over $100. But I would not be surprised.
But to be invested because AGM moved must mean that a big deal or announcement is comming sounds comletly sane to you. Thanks for the laugh. It is nice weather ask your doctor if you can be allowed out of your matress room today.
Chilting.
Does not explain why no proper notice was sent as required by Swedish listing rules.
Or why the would not have informed the market earlier.
Here is the notice from 2021:

I guess an alternative is that the knew AGM would not take place 19/5. Keep it financial calendar and write in AR about the venue and date.
Not sure what of the versions is most incompotent.
