Donald Trump dismissed a draft deal published by Iran to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz as “weak and pathetic”.

The US president said the deal, which would require the US to hand over $300bn to redevelop the country, bore no relationship to the truth, as the White House prepared to send officials to Geneva to sign the deal.

“The terms that Iran leaked out...have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing,” Mr Trump wrote on Social Media, accusing Tehran of acting in bad faith.

Iran seeking to change current state of ‘neither war nor peace’: Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran “must move” beyond the current “no war, no peace” situation in the region.

“War is certainly not in the country’s interest, but if they seek to violate our dignity, our land, and our territory, we will not surrender,” he said said during an event in Tehran, according to state news agency IRNA.

The president said managing the country during war and crises was “difficult” and stressed the need for unity and cooperation among all parts of society to overcome challenges facing Iran.

“We must move forward with dignity in a way that saves the future of our country from crises and storms,” he said.

Mr Smith called EasyJet’s slot portfolio “very impressive”, but said Air France-KLM is not involved in the process currently.

Bloomberg said IAG – which already owns Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling – isn’t currently considering EasyJet as an investment, but also noted IAG boss Luis Gallego as saying “you never know” in a separate interview.

Barclays analyst Andrew Lobbenberg cautioned that demand in the short-haul leisure market in Europe has been significantly affected by the conflict, and said easyJet’s fairly low margins mean tough external factors hit profits quite hard.

Lobbenberg added that while easyJet is Europe’s worst-performing airline stock this year, its assets including its fleet, slots and holiday business, were undervalued. He estimated them to be worth over £11 per share.
