RE: iranian media says ****stani minister arrived in tehran ‘to facilitate’ us-iran talks18 May 2026 09:39
us, iran continue to exchange peace proposals through ****stan
good news is that the talks are continuing.
through the ****stani mediators, the exchange of proposals, amendments and shifting demands is still ongoing.
iran initially proposed a 14-point framework, which the us rejected. the iranians then tried to bridge the gap and sent another response. we learned yesterday that tehran received further amendments from the us via ****stan, worked on them and informed the ****stanis of their updated position.
yesterday, there were unconfirmed reports on the semiofficial fars news agency claiming the us rejected lifting sanctions, rejected stopping the war on all fronts and rejected the full return of frozen iranian assets. baghaei dismissed them as speculation.
however, one thing he made quite clear is that iran’s right to peaceful uranium enrichment is completely nonnegotiable. that is a huge sticking point because the us is asking iran for zero enrichment, at least for two decades.
tehran sees two decades as an excessively lengthy period. despite the public stance, sources suggest the iranians are showing some flexibility and might open up to a shorter suspension of enrichment, perhaps for three to five years.
