Long term I'd say VOD - has been around for years, paying steady divis which have grown over the years. There IS a risk it may be cut in the short term due to the current very low SP but IMO should even out over time.
NAHL is a speculative divi play - will be happy to keep for divis but will sell out if I can get 30% profit on sp increase.
SIA - as you say, when do we start cutting back on O&G? So another spec divi play as above.
CAML - would like to buy at lower prices, looking at £2 or less entry
Thanks 1750mk1 - some very good options there.
Added more VOD, and took small slices of NAHL and SIA.
CAML was one of my holdings a few years ago, wish I never sold! It's on my watch list now, thanks for the reminder!
I'm currently overexposed to oil and gas (spec stocks) so looking to move into more solid companies and other sectors hence the NAHL purchase.
While researching divi stocks, came across NAHL
NAHL Group plc is a leading UK consumer marketing business focused on the legal services market. The Group comprises three divisions: Personal Injury, Residential Property and Critical Care.
It is an extremely cash flow positive firm paying decent dividends, the sp has crashed down to all time low due to lower revenues but directors purchases were made on 14/01. CEO holds just over 1% BUT the majority of stock is held by instis at over 70%!
Will research some more, am looking to buy a small stake for the next divi which should be ex at end April, paid in May.
Good updates from everyone, keep these tips and research coming. What I have now learned is that just cos someone tips something doesn't mean I am obligated to buy!
Hope these plays work out for you.
The AIM of the game for me this year is to play AIM like a bit**, treat it as trash, use and abuse!
I think we've all been there MT. I get into the story so much, buying more and more and more.... until they go bust.
Incidentally, 7DIG is another share that twat AimtraderX is peddling on twatter right now.
No offense CAM I know your strategy is to buy it while its on its knees and sell out as soon as you reach your target. Key is to stick to a tight exit plan - which is something I need to discipline myself on.
Talking about muppets, there was a huge P&D initiated by this ahole called AimTraderX last year - he was pumping MYSQ so hard, night and day . its now in administration and de-listed! Yes, got suckered in also... but nowhere as much as shitbug!
Looking forward to that tip Cam - wanna give us a little hint!
3P - you did VERY well getting out of Shitbug at 100%, I rode it all the way down to ZERO and lost a decent wedge, promised myself never again but currently sitting on big paper losses on VAST, PHE, AFC.
Good luck with OPP, I won't be joining you as I already have stakes in other shit hot speculative shares!
Tell you guys a little secret, I dreamt that NANO sold for £17 per share (they're around 40p now) - I've been holding 50,000 for a couple of years now lol
3P - will look at PETS, sounds promising.
Cam - one of my biggest mistake was selling RDSB back in the days when it was £14 per share after buying loads at £12 during the previous oil price crash - would have been sitting at 12% divi yields now!
I did a divi calculation and based on my investment sizes, a regular purchase of e.g. VOD or RDSB over the last 5 years would be giving me an annual payment of approx £12,000 - not to be sniffed at. That would at least allow me to put some money on more speculative AIM shares.
My target is to have 80% divi holdings and 20% AIM / spec shares by the end of this year.
First post here this year, the old gang is still here!
Cam - get the worst out of the way mate and clear the path for future growth and gains, all the best, stay strong, you'll get through it.
CHL - tell me about it!
My plan this year is to go back to bluechips and dividends after a very crappy year. VOD looks very tasty at this price point with 8.5% yield.
I have the usual AIM stocks such as VAST, PHE, AFC, NCCL, ZIOC and will repatriate any profits from these into the blue chips.
Anyone have any good divi suggestions?
CITY takeover article:
https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-cityfibre-infra-m-a-antin/cityfibre-agrees-750-million-takeover-by-goldman-sachs-consortium-idUKKBN1HV0H3
I was looking for CITY Fibre price earlier today and couldn't find it, when I checked online I saw that it was taken over back in April by GS at 81p a share (closing price was 41p). This is what I wrote back in Nov 17:
"Saw CITY RNS due to my VOD holding - potential TO target in 1 - 2 years time (by VOD) I think, today was a very good day and looks like it will be a game changer for the firm. Haven't looked into it much - not sure why it dropped from 68 to 42 back in July? Good luck if you're in."
Obv I didn't get in but sometimes you get the hunch but never follow through... But then again you can't be in all of them either.
Hi guys, hope everyone's ok - I've been very quiet with work and stuff but have kept up on this chat.
Will give TOOP a miss, been topping up in HNR, it's slipped down to 17.5 from the mid 30s but plenty of pies in the oven and is now at the tipping point (IMO).
Has anyone got any thoughts on DERR? RTO about to take place and Martin Sorrell (ex WPP) will be using it to launch his new business with £40m of his own money and £150m from IIs. Should see decent price action in the short term and hopefully decent growth over the long term.
How's it going peeps? Been very quiet over here. Anyone got any investment ideas / trading strategies? I almost got spiked on UKOG last Thursday! Took a small position on the OGA news, after a 25% rise, went upto 40% then down to 25, had 2nd thoughts and offloaded for a princely £30 profit after comm charges! Lucky as the placing news was announced the next day - very dodgy mgmt over there! Still holding PXOG, HNR (loving the story here - deffo one for long term inv), RBD (also very good story) and others
Same sentiment on NCCL MT - was thinking, this is it then bam placing! Lucky I held off buying as I thought it was the start of a re-rate! I did however increase my holding by 50% on the next day though at 6ish. Limit sells is the way to go.
