Last year, Polo acquired Blackham shares by buying a stake in Perfectus, a company set up by Joe Gutkin to hold his stake in Blackham. Joe retains a 49% stake of Perfectus, Polo bought a 49% stake as well. This year, Polo bought most (but not all) of the shares of Blackham that were owned by Perfectus. Because Polo owns a 49% stake in Perfectus, using its shares as consideration is potentially smart, as it then owns 49% of the resulting shares that are issued (thus reducing the "effective" price that is being paid for Blackham shares). Conceptually - 49% of the shares being issued go straight into Treasury as far as Polo's balance sheet is concerned. But that's not the issue. The issue is this: who owns the other 2% of Perfectus? Answer: Michael Tang. As a result of this transaction Michael Tang will have voting control over 24% of Polo shares (the 14% that he owns via Mettiz) plus 10% that he controls by virtue of having a controlling interest in Perfectus (49% via Polo, of which he is chairman; plus 2% that he owns personally). It won't take too much for him to be able to take the company private. Polo now trades at a discount to net cash, and this discount will materially increase when the £10m held in Signet Nigeria is returned to it. Orchard Gate has questioned whether the state cash really exists. in this case (unlike Naibu), I think that it does. But I don't think that shareholders of Polo are likely to see any of it under this management. Its worth thinking about the relative interests of shareholders vs. Michael Tang for a moment. (a lesson I have now learned...) Tang bought a stake in Polo for £5m, notionally valued at 40p share. People might be forgiven for thinking that he thought Polo was worth more than this. However, in practice what it brought him was a controlling interest in the company. In exchange he has got an aggregate £1m pa of compensation (split between his pay from Polo, plus his pay as executive chairman of GCM Resources). Two and a half years in an he's recovered half of his investment already... There is no question that he will be able to recover all of his investment and more in this way. The merits or otherwise of Blackham are a distraction, in my opinion. I think that, irrespective of the value of the underlying investments, what's happening here is a slow takeover process where Michael Tang will take Polo private at a material discount to its net cash position. Minority shareholders will lose out.

I don't think a few million quid with SRT constitutes a "major " contract does it,I think they were talking billions so hardly surprising there was no mention of SRT.Don't think punters are expecting too much from USA now anyway, they realise it's been watered down so no the sp won't tank as you say.
