an email I received from ST when I asked the question,I'm sure he won't mind.
Clarity; SRT partners carry out the installation under supervision.
The exact structure of each project is slightly different, but in general the following is the case.
SRT is contracted to supply all the equipment - PC's, video walls, servers, coast stations, vessel transceivers, brackets and even the cabling - as a turn key package which has been worked out based upon the customers specific requirements. Our local partner, with our training and support undertakes the installation. There are two parts to the system - the shore infrastructure such as the command and control room (GeoVS VIEWER and GeoVS HUB, coast stations etc) - and secondly the vessel transceivers. Typically we get paid an amount on signing of the contract, and then further amounts against milestones which are, shipping of the shore infrastructure, installation of the shore infrastructure and delivery (but NOT installation) of the vessel transceivers. This structure means we have no risk in regard to the time it may take to install thousands of transceivers which is where the complication can lie with these projects. The infrastructure is quick and easy to install, so for example the Bahrain contract, only signed in August, will have the complete command and control room installed and up and running by the end of December. As a general reference, I am delighted as to how our MDM system and project business is progressing - and that’s not me being optimistic.
