''Today marks a major milestone for Rolls-Royce SMR.
I'm delighted to announce that Rolls-Royce SMR and Great British Energy – Nuclear have signed a contract that enables work to start immediately on the delivery of three Rolls-Royce SMRs at Wylfa, on the coast of Ynys Môn (Anglesey), North Wales.
Today’s signing is a tangible example of bringing the Government’s ‘golden age’ of nuclear to life with British technology.
It brings certainty to the UK’s SMR programme and sets Rolls-Royce SMR apart as the only SMR company with multiple commitments in Europe – an initial three units at Wylfa and up to six units in Czechia.
I’d like to thank the team at Great British Energy - Nuclear, the National Wealth Fund and of course all my colleagues at Rolls-Royce SMR, who have worked tirelessly over the last few years to create this generational opportunity.
Our mission is clear: to transform the way nuclear power is delivered to give greater cost and schedule certainty.
Our focus is now on execution to bring clean, secure energy for the UK, unlock exports and strengthen the UK supply chain.
It is a privilege to be at the heart of energy security, clean energy and industrial growth''.
