Ethernity Networks Ltd (AIM:ENET, OTCQB:ENETF) announced it received the grant of a new patent covering its method for routing, using longest prefix matching.

The patent protects a design that supports large routing tables with minimal clock cycles, Ethernity noted, and highlighted that this removes the need for external TCAM components.

The company said it developed the algorithm as part of its high-speed networking technology, and it forms part of Ethernity’s pipeline data processor and integrates with its UEP platform.

It added that the patented design is suitable for ASIC implementation and provides performance improvements over existing architecture. Tests indicate rapid lookup times for routing tables of varying sizes, it noted.

"This patent significantly strengthens the company's intellectual property portfolio, reinforcing its position as a technology leader in data processing for routing applications," Ethernity said.
