Ok speedie I give up, you win, there is VAT on second hand coins (there isn't, that's a fact), and all sellers of second hand goods are illegally trading by stating on receipts and invoices that their goods are 'VAT free'. They are all obviously secrectly charging VAT and not declaring it or sending the cash they are 'apparently' charging customers but not telling them to HMRC (yes, ridiculous).
The coins, like all second hand goods such as fridges, sofas, tools, reconditioned washing machines etc are sold for profit after all costs to the supplier have been accounted for. They do not charge VAT and can't do so, they don't pay VAT when they buy the goods off customers to sell on because funnily enough, the VAT is paid only once when the 'value' of owning the item new has been added and taxed. Commercial vehicles charge VAT used, but they have tax advantages to those registered as builders etc so that is specific to construction and certain crew cab vehicles and vans.
I can't think how else to explain it for you to accept a statement of fact so I'll leave it there. Good luck mate, nothing further to add.
