Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Morning.. KB/Baylan will have been locking horns, for sure! Given that this process has been hugely political - costing many involved it would seem, and given that, Baylan may now welch on his decision statement, professional negotiators (BEM team) can/could now, take back off the table any sweeteners that were on offer to help on the wider, but are not considered a legal requirement by the applicant, for the award of concession… Point being, the new minister, could perhaps be dealing with a new Kallak situation, one where he puts Baylan behind closed doors as his wing – man, and under new “stimulus” to walk some back…
Now, every poster has a different style, and my posting style do pxxx many off.. I accept that without any argument, but I would never, make a post, where my choice of words was a deliberate attempt to push some negative narrative, at a time when the BB is closely monitored for investor sentiment, because someone, might just oblige. Imo. atb
Evening.. Eric, sorry for the late reply, I’ve been enjoying ‘freedom flu’ before Bojo gets his orders from the Davos Billionaires.. yes again to that.. Baylan doing nothing that anyone can see, is his modus operandi as it were.. One shifty fxxxxxr! After years of the application being back with the Government once more, Baylan then raise eyebrows when referring the application to UNESCO for them to make comment.. This was off – script, and BEM made it clear that the application was a matter for the Government only! Baylan’s position then was, once further comments were in, a decision would be taken.. Should Baylan leave office now, having not made a decision on Kallak, following the referral, then some Politicians/others will most certainly ask, why is this? This must then raise the obvious question – why then the referral? The considered value of which was what exactly?
Baylan/Democrats could then be in a very uncomfortable position, should the question of, was there any ulterior motive involved by the decision makers in this process, gets pushed out.... Imo, If Baylan doesn’t deliver, then someone should call for an inquiry into the Government’s handling of the Kallak process.. The KU report, the UNESCO referral, the leaking of price - sensitive information etc etc, all should warrant that, imo…To date, Baylan has failed to deliver something of value to many! Justice delayed, is justice denied!.. All imo only…… atb……….
Morning.. Eric, Yes! Baylan doesn’t have to do anything, however, not much point in delaying when the CEO say’s send the next minister! This comment Eric is based on my take of this process over recent years, and I believe reindeer herders are just like BEM investors – spectators in a money (%) play, and ‘time’ now for the first time, is of no use to Baylan.. The huge positive is for me, Kallak is very special, and KB want’s the respect both it, and investors deserve, in a process that has focused away from mineral policy! Disgraceful! Imo only atb……….
Evening.. Suzy2, yes, you could well be right.. The Democrats will want to make a decision before next year’s GE, and they would not want any legal challenge to any decision that they made…Not after eight + years, and heading into an election.. Baylan looked being too political imo, when involving UNESCO, following the recommendation from the MI for the concession to be granted.. A further delay now, cements that! The applicant dismissed the referral as not a matter for UNESCO, and then, won the backing from the PI with more hard cash.. Take that!!!!!..
Should any concession be granted, and with any unwarranted restrictive caveats attributed to UNESCO’s input, then we are going into battle, and Baylan knows it.. Baylan has been heavily involved in hard – talks for years, and he is best equipped in how to walk some players back if need be, to get this over the line, imo.. If Baylan thinks that he can deliver a decision that won’t get challenged, then he will deliver, imo… Should it be left to the new Minister to demonstrate “stimulus”, players could dig in, and if the decision was then challenged, perhaps successfully, it would be a huge mining/election own goal, and senior Democrat figures would not be best pleased… Still we wait! Imo only.. atb…..
Morning.. lbjj, re your take on KB’s “ Renewed cause for optimism”… We each will take something different from the RNS, and from that whole paragraph to which you refer, I take away something very different to you.. I see it as being, either you Mr Baylan award the concession, or the next Minister will have to, because be in no doubt, BEM will not make any further input at the eleventh hour whatsoever, regardless of who is Minister! I see no ambiguity with that! It’s up to Baylan now… This CEO is not one for backsliding – to date! Imo only… atb……………
Afternoon... Well Suzy2, The Green issue is the biggest lie of our age, and any Western leader who mantra’s “Build back better”, has been compromised.. But that’s for another day… We know that, not all of the ore mined in Sweden, is made into steel in Sweden, but if all mining Nations want to transition to Green, and become fossil – free in steel making, and if they can then only handle 15% of ore production, in line with Sweden’s projected 5 million tonnes, then steel mills will become a bottle – neck, will they not? Political football for Green zealots.. Either, there is genuine concern about our planet, and provide access, so all can make it cleaner, or at some stage international Law makers will force small miners to join club elite to manipulate production levels and thus, market price….This, imo only.. atb………
Morning… Thank you Suzy2… 5 million tonnes annually from 2030? What? Back to the drawing board, if they want to get serious…. The supply of 7/8 million Tonnes of iron ore ONLY!!!!.... Surely, they should want to exploit to the maximum! Imo only.. atb……………..
Morning.. Thank you Xophe13, full bid offered on half a million shares is of course, remarkable.. Hope no one got “mugged”, as it’s only 60/70% above the 03.16 offer price lol… Much more Green BS coming from the Democrats, perhaps Baylan is heading for Green steel or Hybrit .. That, and a concession granted on Kallak would help the Democrats in a big way re Mining failures.. Baylan could tell all, just how ‘he’ and the Democrats made it all happen.. Well, that’s what politicians do! “Game on”? atb…….
Evening….KALLAKREDICULOUS, BEM’s Lawyers will be involved! If you think that BEM should take legal action re the delay(s), then you could say why you think that the CEO has not done so, to date! What is KB’s reason(s), iyo ??? He must have at least one reason! You must have given that some thought.. We know he’s not giving investors the run-around whilst taking a backhander, because he has said, “Concession first”..
From recent reports, it is alleged that both, Baylan and the GREENS withheld information re Cementa.. Information, which said, importing more cement products because of the shortfall, to meet demand, would result in a larger carbon footprint.. If these allegations are true, either the Greens don’t care about the planet, or they are backing Baylan to the hilt.. It doesn’t appear to be a marriage of love with the social democrats and the Greens, more like mutual prostitution… For sure, KB has had to deal with a bunch of xxxxx, however the politics now, are very different than before, and to now delay further, only provides ammo to other parties, and other CEO’S……imo only… stay well…………..
Morning.. Minister Baylan is in for some hard – talk from KB.. No more games - none! Much better for him now, to get a decision made before any meeting, and try to move the politics from his Ministry’s failings to the then argued merits of that decision.. This man is a gonna, and his party needs his so – called Green transition, NOW! It’s no good of him “Hiding behind the sofa” lol. Imo only atb…….
Afternoon.. ibjj, lolol.. I detect you may have got the needle.. Anyway, Baylan won’t be off the hook if he attaches any unwarranted conditions to any award.. There won’t be any running away.. CEO’s who appear calm and focused when forced to deal with loaded politics, do so because they have both, good capacity and confidence in their ability.. KB has never wavered with message/objective, and he should not change any of that at all, not now, imo..He has had to deal with minister Baylan, who we know doesn’t leave any paper - trail (KU report), and it has also been alleged that he withheld information on some other, whilst being top dog.. Not good that! KB has good measure of this dishonourable being, and proof of that is, if KB had chosen to take legal action in the past, Baylan then would have referred the proposals to UNESCO pronto, and today we would still be waiting for a response from UNESCO - same ilk.. No court would intervene then.. Needless to say, everyone invested is well xxxxxd off, with good reason, but we should try to portion blame correctly.. Concession before any return to the o/p of 03:16P??? lol. Imo only atb……………
Morning.. Well now, this does have the feel of a ‘jump before being pushed’ type of understanding with others.. Perhaps not! However, the last thing the Kallak proposals need now is, a decision made by a ministry, then the Minister gets fired because an investigation showed that the minister did in fact, withhold information to fit political objectives.. Marvellous!!! Imo only atb..
TheFarEnd, Yes, it is a complete farce, and most see it as such.. However, the Government will use whatever they have for the decision to stand, and not to be challenged! They want full control.. To that end, its not wise to cut off one’s nose to spite one’s face, as it were.. No, I wouldn’t be happy for BEM to walk away, should the decision go against us, given what we have been told via RNS’s to date.. Do I think that the arguments made against a mine, are strong enough for the concession to be denied?.. NO! Do I think that the ‘objectors’ appreciated this once the MI made its recommendation?.. YES! This/other mining failures has come with much cost to the ministry, so now there is at least some political will for change.. Moreover, and Worthy of note is that, the investor has backed the CEO with more hard cash, that Biden has to be mindful of now, given BEM asserts that the assessment of the proposals by relevant authorities are complete.. Imo only atb…………
Afternoon.. TheFarEnd, “there will be an appeal by the losing side” You don’t think that the Government will do whatever it can to remove such risk, when other operating mines are closer to Laponia? Surely, they will avoid any possibility of any unwanted focus of an Environmental nature re these other mines! If the Government didn’t already know, then KB has made sure in BEM’s submission that everyone is aware of what the risks are here!
Unclemal, and to you! Imo only.. atb…………
Morning.. lbjj, it’s the “old stuff” that is legal, so the MI could recommend that the concession should be awarded.. Mineral policy (law) is all that matters now (concession first).. The submission (RNS) has made, once again, BEM’s position clear - any potential ‘indirect’ effects will be dealt with later in the permitting process ( not a matter for UNESCO).. The very fact that this has to be reiterated again, is not the fault of the applicant, but that of a Government who’s pro – mining stance, is now seen as perhaps something conditional! Not good that! Mining study report to come! Don’t listen to the noise, watch the signal lol..Imo only.. atb…………..
