I asked HL if they have any plans to allow trading on the AIX in near future. This is what they advised me:
Unfortunately, it's not possible to purchase shares on the AIX through our platform for settlement reasons.
Hargreaves Lansdown will only buy stock that settles through CREST. CREST is a UK-based Central Securities Depository that holds UK equities and UK gilts as well as Irish equities and other international securities. CREST allows shareholders and bondholders to hold assets in a dematerialised stock, i.e. electronic form, rather than holding physical share certificates. If a company's electronic shares are not settled through CREST, we cannot complete that settlement cycle. Overseas markets can often use a different settlement system that Hargreaves Lansdown is not party to, so this means we’re unable to trade a stock on behalf of our clients.
You may be able to find another broker that allows you to trade on this market, but regrettably, this is unlikely to change in the near future - I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Masaimara, I will not be taking up my Rights (in fact I have already sold my Rights and also all my normal TUI shares) as I have decided that for the time being I want to stay away from TUI. I have been long term holder with shares in my ISA, SIPP and Fund & Share Account but like iParsnip, I too have lost lot of capital here. In the short term, I think the share price is likely to drift lower because I think there will be many people who will not be able to afford to buy their new shares at nearly £5 per share.
DYOR.
Masaimara, ....This is what Hargreaves Lansdown are advising ....
We don’t know the exact sterling cost yet. We’re asking you to make £5.10 available for each share you wish to buy. You’ll need the money on your capital account from noon on 11 April 2023 until the money is used the following day.
