SIPP thank you for your honesty and understand completely having been over committed to this share at one point and having to make the same decision towards the end of last year and write off more than I felt comfortable with. i have subsequently reinvested but at a smaller level where I can hopefully reap future benefits but equally bear losses if things take a turn for the worst and still sleep at nights. Despite being a Bath lad I recognise the importance of Sirius to the NE and hope that it provides a boost to the local people and the economy.

Using Softcap as an example, ex div date 01/11/18 sp 652, div date 14/12/18 sp 602, continued to fall to 589 on 08/01/19, update on 09/01/19 saw sp leap to 694 as there was nothing untoward; expect similar with XL Media with green shoots of new strategy already evident. In mean time just be patient.

ART if you lived in Bath then you would realise that there is little difference between the prices charged in the city centre pubs and the restaurants, in fact all the city centre pubs sell food as well!

I live in Bath and see all the students filling the city centre pubs and clubs, do you live in bath ART?

Just one observation about the company, their advertising seems very low key/non-existent. For instance Bath has a huge student population (ideal target population for cheap off peak meals) with their own dedicated Bus service. If I was marketing BigDish, i would post adverts for the BigDish app on the side of the University Buses (Sep/Oct may be an ideal time to do this when the new students arrive).

My experience of similar ex div shares is that it will probably continue to drift down until dividend paid and then give it a further month and should then steadily rebound quite nicely

This Rupert Hargreaves for instance......sometimes 3-4 articles a day........lets face it there's a good lot of us on here could write something equivalent and in many cases far more informative (and have) and for what 20-30 mins time........so £45 or more writing the equivalent or better of what could be an informative post......for some turns out to be a nice little earner.......and in reality that would seem what it is......

Must admit, unlike Rupert (the Fool) Hargreaves who articulated a risk with extremely low probability that any business would readily choose to tolerate, the Time's article at least identifies a more realistic risk in terms of probability. However, the article then goes on to flag up the knowledge gained from successful similar Norwegian operations and elsewhere, and experience of Dr Trice, so no doubt the risk of oil not flowing freely has been mitigated as far as possible and hence rates a buy rating.
