Well a safe play that would open up other opportunities and relationships would be to build a stake in europa rather than buying their own shares, ultimately in my view a per suit of europa would add significant value and open other opportunities, for example a relationship with i3, this is not rocket science…… case concluded!
This decision makes my point about the weakness of this BOD strategy of just relying upon others……they need to stop the share buy backs and use their capital to get into new deals that are more likely to produce results…..I rest my case……
Bubble, nothing certain in RNS, 16-2 has been hanging around for a long time….can/ will they really get this into full production by yr end? Slawson is already 6 mths later than planned….and from past experience they have rose tinted goggles on about if/when it might get into production. This really sounds like prove 36-2 production test and then get help in, partnership, jv & farm in…..key will be what sort of deal they can do and the status/ quality of anyone they do a deal with…..
Strikes me that this raise is effectively the cost of the blowout, may be arguing with insurers for yrs etc…..clean up and circa 6 mth delay in taming 36-2 with the ambition to get into production by yr end……..SP in my view reflects growing uncertainty about whether the co can pull it off…..going to hold, but would not be surprised if it drops a bit further until some ‘certain’ positive news comes out, or of course background oil and gas prices start rising. Pressure is now really on…….
I hope some subtle but steady buying is a party starting to build a stake below levels that need declaring for now…….
Hoping at some point someone will start to really accumulate to build a stake whilst below 2.00 re any future bid. Then the SP should really start to move towards its true value…
Dave T I think it’s healthy for shareholders to have that debate about the effectiveness of using cash for share buy backs verses other more creative uses for the very positive cashflow. I for one will be voting against and would urge others to do so to get the board to seek to create shareholder value through more creative initiatives.
Every time this evidences that the BOD is void of other more creative ideas to generate shareholder value…….also totally ineffective in small cap cos showing a lack of understanding of what drives their share price…this is not Rio Tinto…..rinse and repeat I know……
Does the BOD really have nothing more creative to do with its tremendous cashflow in its duty to create shareholder value??
If it is adamant it does not want to be an operator, Why not build a stake in say europa and benefit when a bid comes in for that (seems inevitable), or eventually bid itself??? Lots of additional benefits in that, including getting a relationship with i3. This just smacks of no vision or ambition, maybe why the SP is stuck where it is!!!! No doubt the usual ‘defender of the faith’ will pop up to say how unfair this is……..but is it really ????
Utter waste of cash flow,, buybacks have very limited/ zero impact on SP of small cap cos. Cash should be used to create shareholder value elsewhere, buybacks are are indication that a BOD are bereft of value adding actions……if they start buyback, to many it’s a sign to sell up and go elsewhere !!
Erdogan seems to have won, I expect a few more weeks of brinksmanship and pocket lining before some sort of opaque deal that no one really understands (oiling everyone’s palms!)) gets done….at the expense of the oil cos……I say again, get a pipeline to the south open and take the Turks out of the equation. Then they might start behaving reasonably having everything lost/to lose. This needs some long term strategic thinking, if cash does start flowing, they need to secure interests outside of Kurdistan to balance the risks. Maybe Alaska??
EOG should be a target, price rise on low volume…..would be nice to see the volumes pick up! Along with the price accordingly. Gla
Not got much spare cash at moment, but put together enough for a small purchase this morning to add to my holding. Seems to me to be just a matter of time before a major re rate when the lithium penny drops with the herd. Gla
Been long asleep on this one…..maybe this starts to give this share a pulse again !
Of course….how silly of me, buying £26k of shares will clearly move the price more than 10% by next week!!!!! I assume you have been buying loads of shares todays based upon this ‘certainty’?
People know my view on the ‘lack of effect’ of share buy backs in small cap co’s. Pity the board has not got anything more imaginative to use the cash coming in to create or deliver shareholder value.
I agree Heid, all this wonderful news….and the market says as it is it is worth 27p. Just to remind last Sept it was 50.
Not on the cheap!! Well at the moment a bidder could build a stake subtlety hoovering up shares at 28p? In my view, 50% premium and it’s gone….no idea when the current BOD could get it to 40p + with their ‘safe’ rely on others strategy…..
3 times current SP!!! I think all will turn cartwheels. Personally I reckon 42p would be enough, 50% premium to current price
Notwithstanding todays 20% rise……..this is needed to get back to my average…….there will be quite a few in this position or worse… so congrats to those who bought in at 16p and let’s hope the BOD use the cash raised wisely to prove a commercial find or smoke out a major delivery partner/deal without getting fleeced. A lot of investors sitting on plenty of ‘pain’ still at the mo. Gla
