The expectation is CGT will rise to 28-30%, not enough to stop the selling of assets, she needs bods to keep selling profitable assets.

The “£300,000” gain has not yet been declared on a tax return, I would be very upset but you could argue it’s fair game 🤷🏻‍♂️

There will be lots of £300k gains and unfortunately it’s quick and easy money for the robot.

If she says from today, budget day, the wheels will stop turning instantly, accountants across the land will melt down.

If she’s says this tax year April 24 she’s captures huge amounts of money but the wheels keep turning albeit banging and clanging.

If she says from April 25, everything gets sold off in 24 everything collapses and there’s nothing left to sell in 26.

I think the American chaos will affect the markets more than our budget, I think our budget is priced in, if she raises CGT on shares or assets nobody gonna sell so the price will hold, right 🤷🏻‍♂️

If she drops a bank stealth tax, that’s gonna hurt but that’s gonna stump growth and will wobble UK investment which they desperately need, so little chance.

They need to capture activity now and I’m sure they will so they get paid in 18 months time or so.

2025 will mean they don’t get the additional taxes till 2027, by the time it’s cashed in they will be looking at an election and the country will have declined further and lose, it’s gonna happen real quick and everyone panic selling assets now I’m sure will get pulled back in the net.

Not retrospective as this current tax year CGT taxes have not been processed yet or even reported in some cases as they have not happened yet, the advice I have been given is they need money now and are not prepared to wait a year or 2 or 3 for tax returns to be posted, Jan 26 could be a big pay day for the Gov.

Doubt it, I would think any CGT tax increases will be for this current tax year not from budget day as the capital gains have not been registered yet for this current year, would be crazy to sell now if you feel there is more to gain.
