To my mind, this paranoia about Russia is a complete, and ludicrous, red herring. Too much reading the Daily Mail perhaps? Relations between the CR and Russia are deplorable, and the EU factor is huge. But for the record, here are a few interesting titbits about Russia and Lithium:

But its the LiOH quantity/price that we're interested in because that's what we intend to sell. And my impression is that the second portal would simply be a way of increasing output rather than relying on increased numbers of shifts.

So it's 15750 dollars for every 20 tonnes of dirt (which isn't lot of dirt) plus the lucrative tin.

Ah ok. The numbers do start to stack up pretty nicely.

Oh of course then there's the tin :-)

lets call it 40 tons of dirt for 1 ton of LiOH. Price is at $15.75 a kg for LiOH.. 15750 a tonne.. so 15750 dollars for every 40 tonnes of dirt, less processing and labour/equip costs etc. Very roughly.

ha, you may be better at this than me. The supposition i the preceding debate was 1% Li content.

So, at 1% resource grade, you need 100 tons of dig to get 1 ton of Lithium. To get a ton of LiOH, you need to dig 1/.29*100 tons of soil. So 29 tons of dig for 1 ton of LiOH.

Molecular weight of LiOH is 24, and of Li, 7. So 1 ton of LiOH contains 7/24 tons of Li. Or .29 of a ton. Correct?

tsibis, if 1% of soil is Li, then 1 ton of soil produces 1/100th of a ton of Li. So to get 1 ton of Li, you need 100 times that. ie 100 tons.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. All we want is for Geomet to make a lot of money. It's Geomet we own 49% of. If Geomet makes a wedge, wherever it's from, so do we.

I think they build up a little story in their heads that sounds clever, and so they keep churning it out as though they know what they're talking about and ignore anything that might undermine their point. Get this in lots of areas. Brexit, flat earth, Global Warming, anti vax...
