"By 2050, we see demand for nickel and cobalt quadrupling from today and we also see the need for supply of copper and zinc to double by 2050," Mr Cooke said.

"So, basically, we see strong demand for all of those minerals in the future."

According to Mr Cooke, big investments are going to be needed to ensure supply can keep pace with the rapidly increasing use of battery minerals.

Although he said there were no specific plans, he confirmed Glencore was looking for ways to boost supply through upgrades to its existing operations or the possible acquisition of new ones.

I don't dare speculate with what information I have, but Anglo will only press forward with clarity and maximum support from Zambia's government. This article certainly highlights the tide turning in Arc's favour.

I never like to see big corporates take from nations like Zambia, but with Anglo/Arc, a lot of opportunity and investment will flow the other way. Think it's important for the country.

And to be fair, the UK has a lot more FDI than ever before, I've worked for a string of international owners.

"He's also known to flood BB forums with garbage" - it was clear something was going on in the background with this guy. Listening to the actual head of state, he's keen for Arc and Anglo to press on. Let's hope all is sorted in a few weeks.
