This is deeply unfashionable, and wouldn’t make much of a course at business school, but I think the nuances of running a plc often draw many people into becoming too clever for their own good, and failing to see the wood for trees.

I don’t want Paul to give a moments thought to timing an RNS to give a short term boost to the share price, or allow bed and isa transactions. I don’t want him to pay suppliers in shares, which would inevitably produce a larger camel designing committee. I don’t want him to worry about get ting to 50m capitalisation to encourage IIs, or engineer short term blips to get placing away.

I want him to hang to as many shares as possible, and create hugely profitable and compelling busineess streams that create maximum value for as few shareholders as possible. In short, success based on quality and talent, rather than froth and bull****.

I suspect this board could all start getting a bit silly.

I was at the Shard, when Sound announced the Tendrara discovery. Unless they were Oscar level actors, Mary Hood and Parsons were genuinely blown away by it. I think they were then very naive, to which arrogance and greed kicked in., supported by that awful bunch of greedy investors, as evidenced at the Gherkin. In the end Parsons was pretty cynical.

From what I’ve seen, PRG is way more experienced, and cautious, so I remain optimistic.

It becomes very interesting indeed if one reinvests some or all of the proceeds of the interim value point inflections, risk management not withstanding.

Word of warning though - in specie transfers can take a looooong time, generally down to the donor company dragging their feet.

Obadiah, my business was a supplier to the financial services industry for years, and I’m very cynical about them, but AJB are very refreshing. They’re not trying to be flash Harry’s, just providing a good service, and even today, when ultra busy they answered the phone in a couple of mins. I think they’ll give you a case of wine if you open an ISA, and you can do an in specie transfer. You won’t be getting Petrus or Barolo though!

Don’t rule out SIPP as a tax shelter, if it will work for you. you can carry forward previous years unused allowance, too.

Does. Whoever provide your dealing account do bed and isa? Doesn’t matter if you have 2, but you could later do an in specie transfer to your current one, or vice versa if you wanted all your USA in one place. In future I would make sure all my dealing was somewhere offering b&Isa
