Should be at 450 and climbing
Stupid to remain at these low levels
Boris wants to keep everything open with no lockdown
only possible with extensive testing
And Omicron cases are only going to increase from here.

“If Omicron becomes the new Delta, and the old vaccines really aren’t good enough, then we have to make new Omicron vaccines. Then we have to revaccinate everybody twice,” he says, noting that the the costs could be staggering. “I am worried.

“With natural gas, Doosan Fuel Cell’s Tri-gen system can produce electricity, hydrogen and heat simultaneously on-site. The system will become the cheapest hydrogen production and charging solution in the early stages of the hydrogen economy,” the COO said in an interview with The Korea Herald.

A solid oxide electrolyzer cell (SOEC) runs in regenerative mode to achieve the electrolysis of water by using a solid oxide, or ceramic, electrolyte to produce hydrogen gas and oxygen. Solid oxide electrolyzer cells are based on high-temperature electrolysis, typically between 500 and 850 degrees Celsius.

I am proud that we have been able to achieve, with Chantiers de l'Atlantique as partners, the launch of these new LNG vessels - the first ever built in France,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises during today’s ceremonies. “They will also integrate fuel cells as new pilot technologies to make these ships even more efficient. We are determined to take new steps and we know that we can count on the continued support of our suppliers, partners, and governments to jointly build an ever more sustainable industry.”

Even 3 jabs weren't enough..
After Israel reported the first case of Omicron variant case last week, reports said two doctors were infected with the new variant even as they were fully vaccinated including with a booster shot.

The SP is way too low given the current situation
I think the MS are stuck in a mental time warp
The 13% fall yesterday was disgusting given the news coming out of South Africa
As a scientist said on Nov 29, Omicron transmits 5.2 faster than Delta...
what more do you need to know?
+ the fact that toddlers are getting it in South Africa, which is worrying.
We don't need schools closing, with kids around the ankles of work-at-home parents
My take (from what I've read this week)
Even if Omicron only causes mild symptoms (headache, dizziness) transmissability is 5 times more than Delta (and quite prevalent in young adults). So track & trace will be working overtime, telling a large proportion of the w-force to self-isolate. So a crippled economy/schools etc to emerge, as I see it.
PCR testing rises in importance.

The study also looked at the accuracy of rapid antigen testing.
It concluded this process, which identifies the presence of specific proteins, such as spike proteins, on the virus, could miss up to 44 per cent of Covid-19 cases, compared with traditional PCR tests.

As I see it
at least 6 weeks till a tweaked vaccine
Moderna conceded that Omicron could evade existing vaccines
And Omicron was more transmissible than Delta
new pandemic? fewer fatalities, but people self-isolating, crippled economy
till the tweak jab goes in.

This would imply Omicron infecting exp(0.35*4.7)=5.2 times as many people [3.1x-9.1x] than Delta over the course of a single generation time of the virus (ca. 4.7 days)...
"The World Health Organization classified Omicron as a "variant of concern," due to the number of mutations that might help it spread or evade antibodies from prior infection or vaccination.

people are imaginative...
Belgians returning from South Africa flew via Ethiopia (not on Boris' list either?)
Others flew S. Africa to Vienna, and then onto Brussels
The last two are Schengen countries no real checks done on arrival in Brussels
Round the world, stranded travellers will do similar things.
In South Africa others are taking a local airline to Rwanda, and going on from there. As the big airlines are overcharging, 1600 eur for one way Cape Town to Brussels.
