Jiffybag: “a vessel ton equals 100 cubic feet “
Amazing, but I am not up to speed on the imperial system. I kindly stick to the metric system, altough I make an exception to “barrels” whatever system that is. Ha, ha
Enjoy the festive season and best of wishes for the New Year
As per the official data sheet Stena Natalita’s gross tonnage is 63.051 mt (i.e. a very small shuttle tanker). As a consequence the 80.000 mt indicated on the German website is plainly wrong.
But whatever the right number might be, it is totally irrelevant as it won’t change the 2.8 m bbls quoted by HE (for 2019).
Still in Scapa Flow but bound for Lancaster! Will sail this afternoon!
Very simple: the sellers are content with a SP of 43-44 and have less confidence in a future rise; an equal amount of buyers do have this confidence. I am one of them.
Ha, ha! Probably shocked and dismayed because of the GRAMMER POLICE’ inability to come up with “synoniemen voor het woord slip- of sleepanker”.
Nonetheless, a good find.
Ik zou in de toekomst mijn berichten natuurlijk gewoon in het Nederlands kunnen schrijven want jullie kunnen het zó vertalen met die leuke speeltjes van tegenwoordig!
Anyway, back to business and interesting day.
Hello slipanchor, I like your alias (sleepanker in Dutch) and respect your tenacity to investigate the latest offload in depth!
However I wish to make a few observations:
1. There is no point in hiring an expensive shuttle tanker for a less than optimal cargo of crude
2. I have absolutely no doubts about the reliability of my source. In fact the person I spoke to checked again his first outcome which gave me the impression that the 58-60k quoted was indeed the right number (unless he / she cannot add up numbers)
3. Today I considered to contact a second source I have (to carry out a cross check) but decided against it, as I do not wish to put too much pressure on my contacts
Good luck with Brexit! I wave you all fare well, but will continue to read this BB.
There is an updated version available dated September 2019!
My reliable source in Rotterdam has advised me that she carries between 58.000 and 60.000 tons of crude (a few tanks are empty I was told). I leave it to the experts to convert that into barrels of oil.
Probably +/- 400k which is the equivalent of some 15.000 - 16.000 bpd. This kind of daily throughout more than reasonably exceeds HE guidance. Should HE guidance be the right measure we are apparantly in for a long period of shut downs.
As a side issue: the Hamman report of 20 September 2019 is excellent food for believers in conspiracy theories; desperate shareholders because of the rock bottom SP (its ALL about risk perception); and financial wizards (PL+Balance Sheets until 2022).
Look forward to your comments “Boardmembers”.
The shuttle tanker Navion Oceania is expected to arrive at the Shell terminal in Rotterdam on Tuesday 15th October. Maken me wonder whether she will carry Lancaster oil. No doubt we will know as soon as she lifts anchor!
Destined to Wilhelmshaven Germany and no, I have no cousin over there. So no Rotterdam off-load due to BP logistics. Wilhelmshaven has no refinery but a fairly large tank park. See www.hesinternational.eu.
This question had been on my mind for a long time. Should the price of oil move towards $ 70 then that would be an equitable level for such a move PROVIDED THAT HE BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN DELIVER THAT OIL.
Most surprising that none of the analysts at the CMD asked that question, because it is not only a question of risk / reward balance, but also an indication how strongly HE feel that the oil is really there to market.
Any views folks?
Dag Frits, heb je mogelijk Nederlandse wortels? In elk geval klinkt je naam heel erg Nederlands

It took me some time to price these images but Here they are.
As to the watermark: that is the forward mark which equals the aft mark on arrival. From official notification the departure marks are: fwd 7.20 meters and aft 9.20 (for those interested).
I now also received an official notification that the Bill of Lading states a weight of 60,595.170 mt. So that number was / is correct.
So if the Aoka Mizu continues the good work we may expect another 4 loads of this size in 2019. That would-be be quite an achievement.
Good luck to all.
Draught indeed 11 meters. Clearly visible through binoculars. So, Lancaster crude passing by in very close proximity. Simply “ most interesting”. Sat next to a photo spotter who took some photos for me / us. Will try to post these to morrow( but need outside help to do do from my e-mail and or IphoneX
It was a pleasure to watch in the sunshine
Greetings to you all!
Absolutely fascinating to sit here at Maasvlakte in the sunshine with my mrs and watch the arrival and departures of so many ships (>300 daily)
I see the AS approaching in the distance. What a monster to watch even from 5 miles away. Should be visible on Hoek van Holland webcams in about 30-45 minutes as well as other webcams. To be continued.....
As promised yesterday I carried out a double check this afternoon. Clearly, the number I relayed yesterday was an approximation and way too low. I was now told that the bill of lading states a net metric tonnage of 60.595,170. I did not see the BL myself but I cannot get a more reliable contact than this one. In UK barrels approx 470k?
Tomorrow morning I plan to sit in the sunshine on the pier at Maasvlakte to see the AS come in. She should be loaded up to the hilt and lie deep in the water. Should any further news arrive I will let you all know.
The Amundsen Spirit is reported to carry 45.000 tons of crude oil. Since I don’t know the density of Lancaster crude I leave it to the experts to calculatie the corresponding barrels of oil.
I will try to double check later to-morrow.
Apparantly the AS sails at half its normal speed. Must be tight planning then for arrival no earlier than tomorrow morning with subsequent loading.
Question: has any one figured out her NET tonnage? If not, is there a rough tule of thumb to calculate it: say 90% of gross tonnage (66.600)?
Amaja is most definitively a male person but apparantly sounds feminine in English. It is a non existing word in Dutch being an acronym of three names. Funny that this “ issue” has popped up a few times on this board.
I worked 18 years for BP in financial functions and being an accountant I am inquisitiveness by nature. Hence my interest in finding out the volume of crude shipped by HE (of should I say BP).
I invested in HE after Ithaca was taken over by Delek and look eagerly forward towards the time that this will happen to HE. But in the meantime lets try to unravel the volume of the third cargo of Lancaster crude at the end of August.
The Petroatlantic will arrive off the coast of Rotterdam around 20.00 hrs and enter the harbour to-morrow morning. In the meantime samples of the crude will be taken because it is “a new sort of crude” i.e. Lancaster crude. After analysis the cargo will be discharged at the right refinery. Most probably the Maasvlakte Olie Terminal Jetty 2. The 450.000 barrels still stand. All this info is interesten but perhaps not do relevant. Can’t go out there tomorrow because I will miss my golf round. Cherrs!
