Berenberg: deep value at GlaxoSmithKline

IMO Berenberg are reasonably sensible with their valuations unlike many. Sometimes they say things I don't like but it's best not to ignore them I have found. I'd like their target price to be a touch higher!

Anyway, I only bought RDSB on the 11th and 12th. A bit soon to take profits unless I wuz a trader.

After the last false dawn I'd imagine they are keeping their heads down until there really is light at the end of the tunnel. Hold and hope is my strategy but DYOR.

It was amusing to witness the current Tesco boss demanding a 1% tax for online purchases.

Tesco of course, in the good old days, built up one of Britain's biggest land banks with a view to making a profit out of land, preventing its rivals from building stores and building its own stores everywhere it could.

Did they really fail to spot the rise of online retail and the stellar performance of the likes of Amazon? Having failed so to do, they then attempt to strong arm the government into penalising successful businesses which sidestepped Tesco's attempts to stifle its rivals.

As it happens I am very grateful for the abundance of opportunities to buy on line and isolate during the pandemic. I am also aware that once a government, strapped for cash, introduces a new tax at 1%, that is just a foot in the door. It won't only be 1% for long. Tesco want us all to pay for their lack of business acumen and inability to move with the times.

What I don't understand is why DMP wastes so much time trying to sway opinion on here. If DMP wants to be a serious infuenza there must be better places to infect..

This development demonstrates that wind energy is being taken ever-more seriously and treading on the toes of traditional fossil fuels more every day:

"Denmark has reached a landmark agreement on the construction of an energy hub in the North Sea.

The energy hub will be an artificially constructed island 80 kilometers from the shore of the peninsula Jutland. Around 200 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 3 GW are expected to be installed in the first phase of the project.

When fully developed, the North Sea energy island hub will reach a capacity of 10 GW.

The hub will produce yet unseen amounts of green electricity and is one of the government’s flagship projects for the green transition in Europe. Fully implemented it will be able to cover the consumption of 10 million European households, the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities said."

Given the news (genuine stuff, not the bull****) on covid, it seems the threat is permanent as will be our need to alleviate it. To that end, investment by companies like AO. will be money well spent rather than an unnecessary burden.

In fact vaccines are able to combat mutating variants because they induce what is called a polyclonal antibody response. More simply put, they induce types of antibody that are each slightly different and there is therefore a flexible response to mutations in the virus. It is an evolutionary advantage that gives us the ability to respond to ever-changing virus strains.

To suggest a new vaccine is need for each strain is not correct.
