Is anyone else contemplating buying ICG shares. I'd welcome views both positive and negative.

I do find it a complex company and some of it I do not fully understand. Maybe that's a good enough reason to stay cleat of it. I'm not a great fan of companies where it's hard to fully appreciate what's going on.

Nonetheless, I note the brokers seem very keen?

I am still invested here and have recently started to reinvest dividends again. I still have a loss. Now it's about 10/11% off the top of my head.

I am still long on China. Very long. I'll always trade in and out but never be well out. It's too big an economy to be short of in a portfolio.

When the Chinese economy picks up JCGI will head north. So will FCSS.

Is it worth switching to FCSS? I suspect not though I may be wrong. Their portfolios are probably a little different.

I share your view about dividends from capital. I'm not keen at all unless it's just a few percent.

I'm patient here. I do expect to make some good money from JCGI over the years.

A halfway house would be to own both. There is also a Baillie Gifford IT if I'm not mistaken.

How do others feel about China and how are they getting exposure to it?

Next week may well be volatile. Clearly the drop in the DJ on Friday will presumably result in declines elsewhere tomorrow. Also next week some trade and inflation figures come out from China. They will be interesting to read. The US market is I think closed tomorrow but it will be interesting indeed if there's another large decline on Tuesday. JCGI coud well pull back next week. A drop to c£2.75 would give it a yield going forward of c5% which would tempt me to reinvest dividends and maybe buy some more. ALgent.

Good afternoon TC999. I'm a modest holder here. I too wondered whether to buy more. However, when there is a market pullback, whenever that will be, shares in NCYF will surely head south? This is a bond fund but certainly not full of US treasuries or UK gilts. I do not see it as any sort of refuge from a storm. After the fall will be the time to buy some more.

Is the above the right way to look at it? Poster's comments would be welcome. ALgent.

Afternoon all. I have just sold a few recently purchased. I did think there was some short term momentum but am not so sure of that continuing. Hence the sale. My long term viewpoint remains - China is not expensive and is a place to have exposure to as an investor. If the price continues northwards then I've obviously got it wrong! I'm still showing a loss on this holding which is a pain. Any price weakness and I'll buy some more.

I do not care to tempt fate or sound smarter than I really am but, over time, there's surely good money to be made by us from the likes of JCGI. The big worry, as you mention, is politics getting in the way, certainly in the short term. I fundamentally consider China to be very good value right now so to be invested there is a good allocation of some capital. Plus a dividend. We'll see. ALgent. PS I like the handle!

Morning all. I'm still holding and still showing a loss. I'm still a long term holder though will certainly trade in and out a bit. I'd be interested in other shareholders thoughts. My reasoning for being invested is straightforward. The shares in China are not expensive and I get a dividend (which I usually re-invest). The aforementioned are enough for me to hang on. The only problem seems to be the Chinese economy which is not (but presumably will) doing well. Have a good day. ALgent.

I made a mistake some time ago selling HGT even though I was doing very well with it. I too am heavily invested in PSH. I have lately sold, a bit reluctantly, JGGI. I was a bit concerned by its USA exposure. I'd happily buy in again on a decent pullback on Wall Street. In fact, in that circumstance, I may just buy a S&P500 ETF. Can't quite decide on that.

Diversification is essential in my humble opinion. Not too much of it though I think. Too much of it (too many holdings) gets you nowhere. Too concentrated a portfolio I also think is unwise though.

I anticipate trading in and out of these shares for ever more. The Chinese economy, when it gets going full tilt, will push these shares up a lot. You'll have made a fortune. I do not doubt that, although you'll need to wait awhile, you'll make a profit with JCGI. I do expect to myself (famous last words - I hope not!). Afternoon all. I doubt I'm alone in having a loss here which is always a pain. However, it cannot be wrong to have some money in the world's second (?) biggest economy. The dividend helps. It will turn and may do so quickly. I'm investing a few hundred a month/reivesting dividends. All you need is patience. It's one of the skills of investment that once mastered usually pays off in my opinion. China is cheap. JCGI is as well. I can quite see a spat on the horizon between Trump and China sending the price lower. I'll be tempted to buy again. Just don't put too much in. That is very important indeed. ALgent.

Good afternoon LWHL. I bought a few a little time ago and now show a small loss which is annoying. I'll certainly buy again if it dips much below 50p. I share the view of some posters that this is a sound and profitable company. I'm waiting for news, hopefully positive, on its new products. If they are going well then the share price should move northwards. I've followed this company, very profitably, for several years now, and do see a higher price in due course (famous last words perhaps!?). The execution of those new products are I suspect important. Should they not do well I'd expect a fall in the share price which will be a very good buying point that I would consider exploiting. It's not an investment that I'd want to be too heavily invested in though. I do worry a bit about the rate of expansion that's going on. I wish you, and others who are aboard, the best of luck. Good afternoon Bodgit and all. I agree with you. The performance is flattered by an earlier period of good performance. Apart from Mr. Copple (who owns 275K shares per the accounts and so has, I assume, skin in the game) the other directors don't own many shares. That's not what I generally like to see. Maybe a change in the manager/directors is needed. I've been aboad since about early 2023 and bought on the assumption that once the economy improved money would start to flow into the smaller company sector. I'm prepared to wait for that event which may not arrive for a while (though the dividend certainly helps). For sure, if the shares don't start to move then I would flog them, take the loss, and buy something else in the same sector. Any suggestions anyone? I see the match is shortly to commence so must finish. Enjoy the weekend all. ALgent.

Good afternoon all. I note the FT last week reported a NAV of £4.54p plus dividends held in Russia amounting to £25.2m. Has anyone done the maths to confirm these figures?
