Good morning 465. All dividends paid during the period 6th April, 2023 to 5th April, 2024 should be entered on your 2024 Tax Return. The paid date you will find on the dividend voucher. If that date falls between the above two dates then it must go on the 2024 Tax Return. Clearly, the 25th April, 2024 dividend is entered on your 2025 Tax Return. Hope this helps. ALgent.
Good morning Pcs. I tend to agree with you. I find China is hard to read. However, the market there is decent enough value (though it could get cheaper, much cheaper on poor news). I'm just holding now and reinvesting dividends. At present I am showing a loss of c30%! as I bought too early (not for the first time!). For sure, a further drop would tempt me to buy a few more. As would better news from there. This is a market you cannot ignore (like the USA) and must have some exposure to or have it on your watchlist. It will turn. ALgent. PS Are you following/holding any other China related investment trusts? Myself, I am thinking of making an investment in FCSS.
Evening all. If its below £1 on Monday I'm a buyer. How I wish I'd been aware of all this earlier in the day! There were only about 10 trades yeaterday! Goodness knows how many today. The money in the account is clearly not JPMs. It belongs to JEMA. JPM just hold it on their behalf. That, I think, is the case, or can you correct me? Good luck to all fellow shareholders. I also think uncertaintly can supply the canny with profitable oppotunities. We live in interesting times. Sometimes rather sad ones unfortunately. Time for dinner. ALgent.
Afternoon sk. I first bought in on 28/02/22 which was a few days after the terrible events commenced. Initially, I bought in at 381p! I traded in and out a bit buying some as low as 69p. I'd like to see the board buy a few more shares. The daily turnover seems very low indeed? I suspect the register is chock full of investors who, like myself, bought in as an asset play. If in exchange for me losing the lot there could be peace then I'd happily lose the lot! I kid you not. Time for dinner. ALgent.
Thanks for your response. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that normality will return. Conflicts are not interminable. I have a holding (that by luck is showing a small profit) that I will not sell. I expect to make a profit though when only the Almighty knows. ALgent.
Afternoon all. Has anyone any idea of the NAV to date please? Any decent estimates would be interesting to have. I should have done the work myself and am annoyed I neglected it. Sorely tempted to buy some more. Trying to guage the up/down sides is difficult, but interesting. My sort of punt, that's for sure. ALgent.
Just bought a few more on what I hope is a dip! ALgent.
Just bought a few more. No news as yet on the SPARC as far as I am aware other than it appears to be set up? I hope all are doing well with their portfolios. Not the best of days today! ALgent.
Good morning Db90. Are you still keeping a record of the NAV and dividends accumulating from the Russian holdings? Could you share your findings with me and the other investors please? Do you have upto date figures? I am looking to put a bit more into JEMA (I stress the bit more!) and all info is useful to me/us. I appreciate you've done the work here and I've not. I hope many are in profit with their holdings. It's an interesting stock market play for sure. ALgent.
Afternoon Rickyl and all. I am not overweight PSH though considering it. Not too much though! I have to remember that I also have JAM which does well for me. I would definately be interested in a hedge fund. I suspect you'd need to invest at the IPO stage as later I'd expect it perhaps to cost a lot more. I'm unsure of the application process for what will surely be a US company's IPO. There is also the paperwork of holding same to consider.
Afternoon atrm2 and all. Having looked at the PSUS SEC filing doc (at 100 plus pages I doubt I'll be reading it all any time soon!) nothing too specific is said about the sort of investments that PSUS will hold. Rather broad terms are used but they do look the same sort of investments and approach that PSH holds and uses. If it's to be an exact mirror fund then I'll stick with my modest PSH holding. If, however, there's to be something different then maybe I'd be interested. I'm quite keen the be invested in any PSCM investments. I was surprised to read in the SEC doc the ages of the people there. I'd welcome discussion on this new PSCM venture with anyone interested. Maybe when more data is at hand. ALgent.
I too am interested in these investments. I would, subject to a bit more detail, be interested in applying for a small holding in the IPO. The question is, how easy is that to do for a UK investor? I suppose one just needs a broker here with the facilities to do it? Also, unless things have changed at bit, there will be USA paperwork for me to complete on a regular basis?
I am sure we all look forward to the details of these investments. The people at PSq (not just BA) are obviously a smart bunch who I'd be happy to let manage a bit of my cash as they do now with PSH.
Good afternoon all. I've been looking at the a/cs this afternoon. The assets should have been managed more prudently in my opinion. The fat dividend needs to be cut. What's wrong with cutting it by a third immediately? If the share price dropped you'd be looking at a share yielding, a presumably sustainable and hopefully growing, c7% plus at a discount to NAV with an amended and hopefully successful new investment strategy (though a bit more detail on that would have been useful to have). Not ideal for present holders, that's for sure (I am one)! Is there an alternative though?
I see some directors are receiving salary increases which seems inappropriate. I will be voting against them! ALg.
I too think there's potential. Potentially rather a lot. I think it would be very useful to know what is the present valuation of the Russian holdings. I wonder if anyone has attempted calculating it and, if they have, would they kindly share their findings (and their methodology) with us?
I note the fairly recent purchase of 5% of JEMA's shares by the Camac Fund, an American investor. They also, perhaps, see potential.
I should like the directors own a few more shares and wonder why they don't. Can they not see the potential? I looked back to the start of the year and they had not bought any more shares than revealed in the last annual accounts?
ALgent.
Good evening. The question I ask myself is what chance is there of the Russian shares in JEMA's portfolio being valued higher and when? I'd have thought there was a very good chance of the former. As to the latter I have no idea.
I doubt that JEMA would dare to sell them off cheaply. The shareholders would be very annoyed indeed if they did that. They must, therefore, hold on to them and wait. There is of course the possibilty that the Russian state at some point forces a sale or somehow makes it difficult to hold the shares.
It's an interesting situation and I would welcome some discourse on it. ALg.
Afternoon Pvdave. I also had to transfer my Poly shares from my ii ISA to certificated form. I cannot say I was too pleased about it at all. I concur with you on dividends. As far as I can see from the company paperwork the dividends will be credited to my UK bank account. If anyone has a contrary view could they please advise me. Another element is whether or not the dividends will be taxed before receipt by shareholders. I have yet to sort that point out. Fingers crossed they are paid gross. ALg.
