thanks for pointing those out mogwhy - it is interesting to note that it is only the lowest 92% and 98% purity Vanadium Pentoxide products that had those small glitches down 1.5 months ago, whilst the higher purity 99.5% Vanadium Pentoxide is up almost 20% in the same time.

The lower purity stuff is used to make Vanadium Nitride, which like Nitrovan, are used to get more Vanadium bang for your buck in steel strengthening applications, whilst the higher purity V2O5 is used for, you've guessed it, VRFB electrolyte manufacturing.

What does this tell you about what is helping drive Vanadium demand inside China ?

Setcentric - that is a very interesting table, everything in the last 2 months is green (UP) in the Vanadium sector

Why ? - Because the market makers need someone to take advantage of in order to make more money. The fact that these guys are present and so desperately trying to knock the company down suggests that they are short - unlike the Market Makers they are not really short, in that they have sold shares that they may need to deliver - these guys are more than likely short on a spread bet platform - this means that they can be destroyed simply by a quick move upwards which would require them to stump up some cash or get kicked out of the game.

Assuming both the MM's and this group of idiot wasters are both short - the MM's because that's what they do 90% of the time and the wasters because they are as thick as half a short plank then you know who is going to lose out don't you ?

Bitterblue - I'm not going to be retiring for another 10 years - my day job keeps me more than occupied and gives me the regular cashflow to continue buying shares in good companies like BMN. A decade of BMN growth will do us all very well, this is going to be a great ride.

mogwhy - the pressure is building on Vanadium prices, on Lithium-ion batteries, on everything to do with the carbon transition.

BMN is stupendously underpriced at present. VRFBs are going to be hitting the mainstream in the next 12 months and I believe that this will make the rerate from 1.5p to 50p that we experienced a couple of years back look pedestrian in comparison.

Then BMN was a relatively unknown supplier of a specialist metal that nobody had ever heard about, this time around it will be at the hub of a massive global energy storage business, which everyone will want a part of.

The fact that Vanadium prices are rising precisely at the deepening part of a global pandemic and manufacturing recession tells you that the Chinese must be out there buying up ever spare Kg of Vanadium that they can.

The price rises will allow them to pick up some supply, diverted from those that would otherwise pay less, but eventually manufacturers stockpiles will be exhausted and the price rises will become much more acute as the price signals to the market 'cripes, come on make more stuff' - the trouble is that the supply side is very inelastic - it takes years and hundreds of millions of dollars to build a Vanadium plant, so at that point the price could go ballistic again, potentially only hitting the buffers when Niobium substitution again makes economic sense versus paying for the Vanadium.
