When a company has been going strong for 150 years you have to believe that they have a business model that works. Compare and contrast with all the other well know AIM tech stocks that pop up, burn investors cash for a few years and then disappear in a puff of auditing smoke. There is no reason to believe that stamp values are going to evaporate overnight just because the chinese miracle has coughed and spluttered, compared with shanghai or london real estate, or gold for that matter you might think that stamps are actually the better purchase. Just my opinion so DYOR.

How do you know they were buys ? At 2.59 the bid was 60 the ask 62, these transactions went through at 61 or just below this mid-point, after these transactions at 3.15 the bid was 60 and the ask was 61. It looks pretty obvious that they were actually sells. Why do you think they were reported late - not because the market maker lost the paperwork under their stack of take-away menus, but because they are allowed to deliberately report big sells like these, late, to misinform PI's when a stock is haemorrhaging.

Yes, but the key point is that it demonstrates massive faith in the company and the product - where DARPA treads others will follow.

If you bother to read the DARPA press release it indicates that from march 2016 Kromek would be required to deliver 1000x (400USD detector units +100USD charger unit) per month. This was published on the 23rd sept but only archived today, which is why Kromek have waited until now to RNS it. As usual, there is no explanation for the drop in SP on good news, and DYOR

I meant sell TO the market

Why o why is it so difficult to show genuine buys as such - my purchase of 4K worth of shares this morning is showing as a sell. Can anyone explain why it is not possible for the direction of the trade (buy from the market, or sell from the market) to be simply indicated for each trade, there does not need to be all this is-it-less-the-mid-price-at-the-time guesswork.

Yes he is a big hitter, and a very nice bloke to boot. I'm quite impressed that they managed to persuade him to join the board as he is one of the very few demonstrated scientific entrepreneurs in this country.

The question of Paypal from the start is an interesting one - as much as the consumer might think that paypal is de rigeur from the perspective of the business owner it is not at simple. What is a simple and unavoidable fact is that paypal can, at any moment, freeze your account, and the internet is full of stories of business owners who spent many months trying to get their accounts unfrozen and their money back. The payment platform landscape has changed a lot in the last few years - challenger platforms like ingenico, stripe, adyen and braintree all provide greater flexibility and better support than the 600 hundred pound paypal.

Excuse me but I didn't know that the chinese were such massive collectors of early british stamps and that it is a revelation that SGI are not going to be getting everyone in china to start loading up on penny blacks. Sure the new website is not a knockout sensation from the start, but as the board have explained this has never made any contribution to profits - so not growing as fast as it might is not going to have that much financial impact. But feel free to give your shares away to me as I would like buy now.

I had a brief look at their website yesterday, following some of the comments on the board here. I have to say I was quite amazed but just how poorly it performed, especially given the connection with bidstart that SGI already had. I'd love to know who they got to build the website - to see if they are technically competent enough to sort all the problems out and how it was quite so bad at the start. I was also quite surprised at how antagonised existing customers had become - whilst the support team are doing their best to sound accommodating, if they don't provide answers within a reasonable space of time all the soft-soap "we're here to help you etc etc" will do nothing and will simply antagonise customers further. Evidently many are concerned that SGI have got themselves in over their heads on this one and may have wrecked a quality brand in the process. Without being one of their long-standing customers in the sector it is hard to know exactly how the brand was previously perceived and whether this debacle will change things materially.

The trouble is that most of their sales are to government sectors, rather than industrial, so get hit unfairly in periods of 'austerity.' When governments are feeling wealthy they let the academics throw their money around but this is not now.

Something seems to be afoot here.

Probably about now - yesterday's sell off was evidently, errr, early knowledge of a broker downgrade that came out today.

On what basis do you have such a bipolar view of the valuation of this company.

hottrader - the share price is unlikely to fall due to the mechanism you have just described because it has already fallen due to the placing being factored in ahead of time. A large number of those people who wanted to buy shares in the last two weeks will have been able to buy at 25p in the placing, hence there is no reason for them to spend any more than this - this is why the share price has fallen. The drop from above 30p to 25p reflects the increased share numbers - the company did not suddenly reduce its asset base or have any challenge to their technology. Since the share placing was 121% oversubscribed it suggests that the price will actually rise from 25p from here on.

Anyone who has ever bought electronic components will know that farnell is one of the biggest and most reliable names in the market. The slight delay in Pi 2 production and shipments will come through in the next half and it will become clear just how overdone the drop is at present. Probably due to people nervous about what is happening in china, but PFL has basically no exposure there !

Rated a buy at up to 13.5p with target 20p+ based upon very high operational gearing and previous results not yet factoring in cash-flow from this year's Tier one contract win. Bought another 5K worth.
