Following on from the identification of V1/V2 pegmatites as targets earthworks and civil works construction are scheduled to commence during May 2018 with production on track for H2 2018. This will generate not a small amount of ore, but 500,000 tonnes, which it is hoped will yield 800 tpa of Tin concentrate. Obviously we don't know what grade this concentrate might be, but with tin metal at 21,000 USD per tonne if the concentrate was only 50% tin then this 800 tpa might be worth over 8 Million USD.

Having stated that zoom earth claims to show new images each day I went looking for Largo but discovered that I could not see anything where I was expecting to. It seems that zoom.earth is simply using the standard Bing/Microsoft earth images - however I have found more reatlime satellite images that do show the Largo site so I shall have to delve back into those wrt to both largo and Uis

Anyway - the pilot plant is on the left hand side, just south of the main road and just on the east side of the white road that skirts the grey spoil tip. It is quite small and only has 2 or 3 buildings and a conveyor belt or two. On the right hand side of the picture, again just south of the main road there appears to be a larger area of buildings due south of the red roofed building that is on the north side of the road. It appears that there is much more activity there - for example there appears to have been a reconfiguration of the grey blocks of storage, and what appears to be piles of pink spoil just north of the feature that looks like a power line substation.

Doncaster - if you are prepared to pay for the download ( https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378775317315252 ) Minke and Turek (Journal of Power Sources, vol 376, (2018) pp66-81) you will see that they have analysed all the techno-economic studies of VRFBs since 2004 and have concluded that the Vanadium electrolyte comprises 30-60% of the total system cost of a VRFB. However it is worth bearing in mind that this paper was written before the recent increase in Vanadium prices and worked on the assumption that Vanadium was 6-22 Eur/Kg. Well of course Vanadium in standard V2O5 is now working out at 44 Euro/Kg, probably 50% more in high purity V2O5. Thus the cost of the Vanadium may now be more than 50%-80% of the total system cost of the VRFB. The idea that BMN would be charging Bushveld Energy full price for the Vanadium that it mines is crazy - that would completely destroy the whole point of setting up the subsidiary Bushveld Energy (84% owned by BMN) and developing the idea of the vertically integrated Vanadium Miner + VRFB manufacturer in the first place. It would be a trivial task to explain to shareholders that it is in BMN's long term interest to develop the VRFB market via BE by selling it Vanadium at something like cost+10% price. As a significant shareholder in BMN I would happily endorse such an approach.

Most(70%+) cheap production comes, sorry came, from China as a byproduct of steel production (the so called Vanadium s-l-a-g) but guess what the chinese would like to breathe their air so they are stopping doing this, and instead of being net exporters of Vanadium this year have become nett importers of Vanadium. pablo2 - if you have not already done so you should look at https://www thebushveldperspective.com - there are sections on VRFBs, the Vanadium market, and of course BMNs Vametco plant and Bushveld Energy. Investing in an sector can be problematic if you pick the wrong companies. Doing the background research is necessary to pick the ones that the rest of the market with its 4-second attention span have missed. I have done very well out of Bushveld Minerals and don't intend to sell until the price is 5 times higher than it is now.

pablo2 - you hit the nail right on the head. Now much more than 30% of the VRFB cost is the Vanadium in the electrolyte. 30% was 2016 figures. The Vanadium prices is now 4 times that so if everything else stays the same 0.3->1.2 and the total battery cost 1 -> 1.9. Vanadium cost is now 63% of the battery. This will hurt Vanadium users such as RedT who now need to pay 4 times as much for their Vanadium but it greatly helps companies such as BMN that mine the Vanadium as 1) the only pay the production cost which is roughly 1/4 the price and 2) they can get the steel industry that comprises 95% of their sales to bankroll their VRFB development programmes.

Hilarious - which buildings and bridges are people going to take down to recover the Vanadium from the steel. I thought that we were dealing with intelligent investors here but I seem mistaken.

General Levy - you don't appear to understand the basic advantage of a Vanadium Flow Battery, which is somewhat strange for someone who appears to be invested in a company that makes them. The basic point about a flow battery (any flow battery it doesn't need to be Vanadium based) is that you can increase the stored energy simply by 1) increasing the size of the electrolyte tanks 2) filling those tanks with electrolyte. There are no further costs incurred in enlarging the electrochemical stacks because 3) you don't need to touch them. This is why long duration (>2 hrs) batteries Vanadium Flow Batteries are most cost competitive with Lithium-ion. Furthermore if you have an especially large battery (>10MWh say) you also win with Vanadium Flow technology because you can build only a few large electrolyte tanks, unlike lithium-ion there is no safety reason that requires you to subdivide into loads of really small tanks that fit inside shipping containers. Hence VRFBs win most strongly with large batteries and long durations. As for the reason why Lithium miners do not make batteries this is for 2 reasons :- A) The construction of Lithium ion batteries requires close to clean room conditions and sophisticated sold-state physics and sol-gel processing B) the cost of the lithium in a lithium-ion battery is only a few percent of the overall cost of the battery because A is expensive. This is unlike the situation for Vanadium Flow Batteries where the making of electrolyte is really very simple, but the cost of the Vanadium in the electrolyte is between 30% (2016 prices) and 100% (2018 prices) of the rest of the cost of the other components in the battery.

knuttie and Sanchez - neither of you are right - their revenues are negative. The last reported figures (2016 AR) showed a loss of 5.8M sterling - so not quite the 20% but quite a bit worse than that (348,000 / -5.8 Million = a nice round minus 6%) Maybe shareholders are simply happy that Mr McGregor only took 14,000 pounds more than the 334,000 he took in 2015 ?
