Arvin08 - the energy to make the gas is one thing but then you have to compress it to store it and in doing so you will use more energy (you are doing work) and inevitably generate large amounts of heat. Unless you have somewhere useful to put that heat then you end up having to waste it.

When you use the gas you expand it an get cooling, but to be honest in the back of your car this is not massively helpful either.

to some extent it depends where the sale comes from - if it is a PI who suddenly decides that they need some cash then then the MMs may drop the price so that they can get rid of the shares that they just had to buy. If it is an MM selling to another MM then they are unlikely to change anything, as evidenced yesterday, as it is simply a deal between those on the inside.

I agree about hydrogen - it has the advantage that it can be stored up for long times, but the disadvantage that you would need to completely upgrade distribution infrastructure. There are numerous companies working on ways to capture CO2 and combine with Hydrogen to make simply liquid hydrocarbons that are more easily distributed - these processes inevitably end up being energy inefficient if you measure every last joule, but as a practical route for using summer sun when it is the middle of winter it is one of the few ones that we have.

somtam67 - yep it is a hydrogen vehicle which is the main competitor to Lithium-ion driven ones.
