I would be interested to know if anyone knows the status of the 8:14 8:16 trades at 25.05p - I know that the trades before the first 250K were Buys - it would therefore seem logical that the ones after the first 250K were also buys.

Unless of course the first 250K trade gets reversed later in the day. Watch this space

GreyBuzz - indeed as Professor Skyllas Kazacos explained at the recent Vanitec/IFBF conference the Jamestown battery was rushed through precisely because of the failure of a large grid interconnector between South Australia and other parts of the Australian Grid. I believe that came on top of a strange turnaround in Australia PV policy which meant that suddenly many people were generating PV on their roofs but the grid couldn't get it to the right place at the right time.

Note these percentages are for the total contained Vanadium in the host rock. The V2O5 is contained in the magnetite which typically is only 30% of the host rock and as mentioned this can be easily separated out at the first stage of concentration - thus the %age of V2O5 in the magnetite is an important parameter as it tells you how much material you have to feed into subsequent stages of the salt roast process, at Vametco/Brits the in magnetite concentration of V2O5 is just over 2%, whilst at Mokopane in some bands it goes above 2.4%.

Note that companies such as Aura Energy or King River Copper have Vanadium not contained in magnetite so they really have their work cut out for them.

Endion - whilst Vince at AVL is doing a good job in whipping up some interest in an integrated Vanadium+VRFB model in Australia their resource is somewhat smaller than ours:-

According to my records the AVL resource is 179.6 MT at 0.75% average - this has the advantage that like all of ours it is in magnetite so is relatively easily separated by low field magnetic extraction from the host material

This gives AVL a total of contained Vanadium of 1.346 Million Tonnes

Our resources are:

Vametco - 177MT at 0.61% average (up to 2% in the magnetite) = 1.080 Million Tonnes of V
Brits - not yet defined but looks very likely to be about the same as Vametco = maybe another million Tonnes of Vanadium
Mokopane - 297MT at 0.68% = 2.028 Million Tonnes of V

So our in-ground resources are in total about 3 times the size of AVL

Lucan - of course they could try it on again as guess what none of the mines suddenly found work for 1000 people. This is why their so-called leaders have such outrageous claims, precisely because they don't want to ask for anything that is attainable just publicity for themselves. The effective balance of payments depends upon which class of individual you are talking about and generally speaking it will be those at the lower end of the spectrum, whose costs are mainly Rand demoninated and domestic, but whose production which may be exported, that will actually do best out of such a devaluation.

Pigpen - the SP hasn't even got close to properly factoring the cash generating capacity of Vametco. Yesterday's drop was simply an opportunist loading up on cheap shares from those who had put limit sell orders in place. The MMs know that it is more than likely that Fortune will be coming out soon with some important news on the back of this weeks Integrated Resource Plan announcements and fairly unusually were happy on this occasion to buy the shares before they actually sell them. They will walk the price back up and in so doing make their profit from those that got mugged.

Yep 10 million dollars in less than a month, and just to the US.
