RE: The usual routine22 Oct 2018 10:37
kev - indeed we see the usual routine - spike the price in the first hour to make enthusiastic buyers pay top dollar then walk it back in the afternoon - allows them to run a simple day long short play.
If that does not work and they cannot get the shares they need, then no problem, do it again tomorrow and maybe they'll get lucky. If that still doesn't work then they have to start getting more aggressive with the marking down.
If that still doesn't work then, grits teeth, hmm "we'll have to double up on the short to give us a bit more breathing space. No reason to worry now, we've done this so many times before, no reason to worry."
Run the normal spike and walk-down "what people are still not selling ?" Time to get serious now, run a few tree-shakes to shake up those who just want a small profit "this will show them". Hmmm, darn still more buyers and they're not weak holders it seems - starting to sweat a bit now, what if the company drops news tomorrow ?
Try one last time, running out of options now, last one is is a large holder who has been selling on the way up "maybe we can score a few mill from them ? - let's hope so". What still no luck, and cripes it's mid morning and there's an RNS about to drop: "panic, Panic !".
