is I see down almost 40% this morning. Who would wish to have shares in anything on the UK high street at the moment - I mean really do you have to have it spelt out to you ? At least they didn't try blaming the unseasonably warm weather.

If you want to have a hedge against everything that is going on Brexit-wise you need to get outside the UK and preferably into stable commodities, not currencies. If you can find a commodity that is in a structural rerate that is positive like Vanadium clearly is, then you should grab the opportunity with both hands.

How long ? We've seen it before but significant buying pressure can be the thing that tips the balance and the MM's have to concede the game - eg the price recovery after the Sojitz announcement - that really caught the MM's short out and they lost hundreds of thousands of pounds as a result.

Headancer - I suspect that they have someone lined up who they expect to be able to take the shares from cheaply.

The short term question is whether the seller reads what I have written or not. If word gets back to them that they are being ripped off then there could be some squeeky bums in MM-central.

I have to agree with numpty5 - the Bushveld lot don't need to take on any legacy assets from Eskom - what would we do with a 30 year old coal power station ? No thanks. What we can do is work with the world bank and clean technology fund to try and improve South Africa's electricity supply, which is currently the dirtiest (in terms of generation of CO2 per kWh) in the whole world.

Endion - indeed unless you follow from the start of the stock listing you always have to consider that there may be a zero offset in the accumulated nett trade data - it's the same with integrations in calculus there is always a potentially fixed constant offset to add.

The way to establish if you are on the money is to see if there are periods when the trading seem neutral and the exposure constant - if you see this regularly at some point you may think that the accumulated MMs trade level is one that might actually correspond to the true zero and choose to rebase to zero at that point.

However this is not the only signal that you can use to tell yourself that you are at the right level - the behaviour of the MMs can also be cross-referenced against the accumulated trade position - if you see that the MMs appear to want to drive the price down whilst they have a short position that makes sense - if instead you saw that they were happy to let it rise whilst holding a short position you'd instead have concerns about your interpretation. Ditto if you see a long position but the MMs happy to walk the price down - that also would lose them money.

The behaviour during the strike, and the subsequent announcement of the Sojitz buyout is rather consistent with the accumulated nett trade position that I estimated at that time. Since then we have had continuous coverage so any starting offset will not have changed.

YTSS - according to the returns posted on the BMN site ( http://www.bushveldminerals.com/capital-structure-shareholder-information/ ) First Island have not sold a single share (holding 33,213,779) since they got to that figure on the 28th September.

If this is correct then perhaps we have slightly misjudged them, plus it would imply that the 9M large sells sold after the 28th Sept but before the 26th October ( https://www.thebushveldperspective.com/blog/public-articles-1/post/when-will-first-island-clear-332 ) most probably belong to another participant in the March 2018 placing.

As such a participant can themselves never have had any more than 33.3M shares (no TR-1 ever submitted) then we may infer that they also may not be far away from being completely out of shares either.

I can change all normal trades to solid circles though. It's not so easy to determine what is really a 'PI' trade as versus anything else - there are not clear cues on this subject. Well nothing that the public can see. The FCA is a different story - they get everything including all the information about the individual parties, should they wish to track down market manipulation.

gkb47 - sorry the colouring system is as complex as I wish to make it so far - the spreadsheet currently stretches across two monitors. I use the highlighting differently depending on what is worth highlighting so sometimes green is something, sometimes it is something else. The text and legend should make it always clear.
