numpty5 - thank you for pointing out that many non-British airmen fought the Nazis in the Battle of Britain. As well as the Canadians , New Zealanders and others from the British commonwealth there were many Czechs and of course the Poles. I believe that they deserve very special mention as of course they were not invited to march in the victory celebration in 1946 and were only invited to a commemoration march in 2005. The story is a complex one but that should not make us less angry about this clear example of political expediency.

Just as BMN will be acquiring smelters that are located on the old Evraz Highveld site I think it is highly possible that the Siyanda smelter is perhaps located near there.

Note - smelting is quite a broad term so I don't think anyone should jump too quickly to the possible suggestion that BMN may be able to offer smelting services to Ironveld. In Fortune's presentation to analysts on the Vanchem acquisition ( https://webcasting.brrmedia.co.uk/broadcast/5cc315de3c8e41495e2420cb ) it is made quite clear that the two smelters that BMN will be acquiring on the Highveld site are intended for conversion of Vanadium oxide to Ferrovanadium (i.e. you are adding iron to the Vanadium oxide, reducing it to form an Fe-V alloy with a high concentration (typically 50-80%) of Vanadium dissolved in the solid matrix.

That's an impressive spellcheck you have there Coffeecups - substitutes a state own electricity enterprise, "Eskom", for a russian owned Steel company, "Evraz" which only has a single letter in common. Even more impressive is it's ability to substitute "Rhovan" , a Vanadium mine in South Africa, with "Largo", the only other Vanadium mine in the world outside of China and our very own Bushveld Minerals.

Coffeecups. Glencore owns Rhovan outright there is no deal that come up for negotiation any time. I'm afraid that you have got confused between Rhovan, which is in South Africa, and Largo which is across the other side of the Atlantic ocean in Brazil

No not at all it should make us take a long hard look at ourselves and the place that we actually have in the world rather than the one that we think it has, or had.

The UK balance of trade deficit is majorly offset by earnings of 'financial services' through the city of London. some of these profits may stay in the UK to buy Jaguar cars and Fortnum and Mason's organic chutney, some of it may get shunted abroad away from the taxman and some may simply go to increase the cost of bricks in the middle of London. Whilst the loss of a significant fraction of these trickle-down effects may not be a major cause for concern, and might even be of long term structural capacity of the UK economy the big hit to the UK's balance of trade and corporation tax takings will have a major effect on sterling and the ability for the government to invest in structural regeneration. I fully expect that if the B-thing goes through then sterling will fall to parity with the euro (some 30% lower than it was in 2015) and stay there for many years and yes this will lead to an increased effective value for all assets held in currencies outside of the UK.

Holding value in commodities has always been seen as a useful hedge against currency or political fluctuations, which is one of the very reasons I chose to invest in BMN in the first place.

Good points Pdub. Those of us in the UK are in no way to criticise anyone else at the moment for the lack of political or economic stability. In fact it's precisely that issue that means that having your assets in a worldwide commodity is such a great hedge against B-word problems.

It can take some time to filter through to the FCA notification - also the notification only happens each 0.1% change = 1.1M shares - as the last notification was at 0.71% it is possible that the short position moved up to 0.79% without notification - the sells on Wednesday only amounted to 800K so it is possible that they are not obliged to notify yet.

The simple point is that Market Makers are not charities, so if you want them to sell you shares then you can be sure that they are going to make sure that they have paid less for those shares than you are paying for them. As few PIs are providing shares to the MMs to sell they are in the position of selling high and then going short themselves. This approach can be circumvented in the case of an individual shareholder by simply not selling shares when the price moves down. Instead this is an opportunity to buy yet more shares. An opportunity that I have indulged myself with earlier today.

Bella the 10th - 25th June sells by Vaneck were the preamable to BMN being taken out of their REMX index.

Subsequent to that there was a 350K sell by Vaneck reported on the 5th of July which correspond with 350K of Sells on the 3rd of July at the 25.0 - 25.34p price point (around 1:40pm) - so I don't think 26.0p is a hard and fast figure

mcgrco - presumably that only applies on dates when dividends are payable - also the dividend paid out tends to match the contemporaneous drop in SP due to the company no longer having the cash and instead handing it over to someone else.

Note the large 113,890 sell at 8:12 at a price of 25.75p - despite this the next sell is up at 26.00p only 15 minutes later. I wonder if we will be receiving news or a large subsequent buy between these times.

Jean - no this short will stop when the shorters fear not making as much money as they were previously set up to do. This will be as soon as everyone sees the Vanadium price recovering.

Exactly right JMC69. The second 175K is simply one MM transferring the shares onto another. We're not fooled.

This corresponds to 175K shares being handed to the Market Makers. The question is - was there a roughly similar sized Buy yesterday that would correspond to TPEP closing their short by a similar amount, or did we get that in the previous day , when there was a calculated excess of Buys of c. 1.1M (yesterdays excess of Buys on 166K). Of course the 175K yesterday came in at 26.00p, exactly the same as the 400K the previous day so the fact that these trades are split over 2 days may be arbitrary.
