somtam - with US universities you always have to ask the question as to why the Uni marketing department has suddenly swung into action to promote stuff like that, as they care not one jot about genuine fundamental research unless it has pictures of galaxies. It is rarely to promote anything really of groundbreaking significance because the academics over there are savvy and liberated enough to get out of their universities and start a spin-out business on anything that is really handy.

somtam - they make a great deal out of the coulombic efficiency of over 97% - this is relatively easy to achieve in a lab cell at very low flow and charge/discharge rates - it is much harder to achieve the same levels of coulombic efficiency at the power levels that a real battery operates at because there of the limited reaction rates in the power stacks and other energy loss mechanisms.

The share price is not a true measure of what the company is worth, it is a temporary measure of the lowest price that the Market Makers can get anyone to sell at, assuming of course that they do not simply print low price transfers from one to another.

gotta agree Sanchez. What Ophidian and Richken do is their own business - they are free to go off and work with other artists if they so wish. The band of bushwackers remains as strong as ever, and even stronger by dint of our own diversity of opinion.

What we agree on is

1) Energy Storage is going to be a multibillion dollar industry that makes critical contributions to the carbon transition over the next 3 decades

2) VRFB flow batteries are mature and highly scalable energy storage solutions that are just turning the commercial corner. As far as LCOS goes they are already competitive with Li-ion despite having only 1/100th of the installed user base and about the same overall level of research spent on them.

3) VRFBs need Vanadium, the only element that exists in solution in 4 different oxidation states

4) Bushveld Minerals owns 50% of the primary Vanadium facilities outside of China

The simple fact is that Energy Storage is here, VRFB's are coming and BMN is still fabulously cheap. This is the time that the smart investors start to see the writing on the wall.
