A development by Avacta plc has created a Dox conjugate ( AVA6000) which is cleaved within the tumour by FAP enzyme ( found at high levels within tumours). The cleaved Doxorubicin is thus released ‘in tumour’, and mitigating /preventing the normal adverse toxic side effects experienced by treatment. Chemo without side effects is the aim of this current (2023) phased regulated biotech trial . Views expressed at recent Science Day held by Avacta ( online) suggested this will potentially be a step change in treatment efficacy
