The agreement was signed today on 17/05/2024 at the TPDC meeting hall located in the Benjamin Mkapa Building in Dar es Salaam. Speaking at the event on behalf of the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Director General of the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Authority (EWURA) Dr. James Andilile has said that the natural gas supply project using Mini LNG will help expand the range of natural gas supply and facilitate its use throughout the country. "This step of signing shows the sincere efforts of the Government through TPDC in encouraging the supply of natural gas throughout the country, a goal that we are all working hard to achieve." In addition, Dr. Andilile has pointed out that the demand for natural gas in the country is great where until now only the regions of Mtwara, Lindi, Pwani, and Dar es Salaam have been reached by the natural gas network, so there is a need for natural gas in other regions, a situation that shows how much the market for natural gas in the country is large and more investment is needed to be able to approach the needs of gas users in industries, homes and cars. And, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors TPDC Mr. Paul Makanza has said that the Mini LNG project will not only promote industries but will also bring economic benefits to society by reducing the cost of production of various products and increasing the use of natural gas in industries which will contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. Likewise, the Executive Director of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Ndugu Mussa Makame has said that the investment costs of the Mini LNG natural gas supply project is 100 million dollars. Ndugu Makame has said that the project, which is an important part of TPDC's new strategy, will be implemented through a Partnership program between TPDC, Rosetta and Africa 50, where TPDC will own 30% shares, Rosetta Company 44% and Africa 50 Company (26%) This strategic move is pushing the energy sector in Tanzania towards a sustainable future. Specifying the regions that will start benefiting immediately after the completion of the project, Makame has mentioned that they are Morogoro, Dodoma, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Iringa, Mbeya and Tanga which will also be built to facilitate the supply of gas to increase the scope of natural gas use. The CEO of Rosetta Company Karim Shaaban has thanked the Government and its institutions for making it possible to reach an agreement on the natural gas distribution project in the country. "The gas distribution project will help us, the investors, to increase Tanzania's output," said Karim.
