In summary:
Got too greedy coring and logging the reservoir section leaving it exposed for up to 1 month without being cased off.
Tried to run liner, got stuck in hole. Pressurised up formation and fractured the formation leading to fluid losses into formation.
Had to pump lost circulation material (LCM) to seal up fractures with reservoir unfriendly material.
Carried out side track.
Drilled sidetrack too close to the original well path.
Ran 7” liner and got it stuck on bottom.
Unable to cement all the way around as formation collapsed.
Forced to squeeze cement (under high pressure) into reservoir. Seals up fractures that you wish to produce from.
Cement job was terrible and collapsed (crumbled) behind the perforations.

So first UKOG blamed nitrogen and now Pboo is saying its the acid…….looooong sigh.

Of course it was down to the drilling. Sadly some folk see it as an attack on their baby rather than taking the positives out of it as in follow Good Oilfield Drilling practices and you will have a lovely well.

UKOG broke most of the Good Oilfield Drilling Practices drilling BB and when trying to take short cuts or get too greedy with an over adventurous coring / logging program. They got their fingers well and truly jammed in the cookie jar. And would you believe it? They did it a second time when they drilled the sidetrack. What they did when they packed off the liner on both occasions is the equivalent of setting off a bomb downhole and sealing all the fractures around the well bore. Result….zero production.

Why did BB go wrong? Pilot error as in Sanderson and co didn’t get the basics right.

Everything I wrote (originally posted October 2017) just from reading UKOG BB RNSs, seeing photos / videos that Pboo posted and using my oilfield knowledge has been proven correct….again.

The failed curtain seller should really read the links several times to understand what actually went on.

And this is all verified by UKOG themselves in the link Pboo kindly provided.

“After completion of the BB-1 exploration well it became apparent that the duration and difficulty of coring such highly-fractured rocks in an inclined well within the overall compressional stress regime of the Weald, together with the multiple pipe trips and significant electric logging runs likely exacerbated potential borehole breakouts creating ledges protruding into the borehole. These ledges prevented the final 7-inch casing from reaching the necessary depth in the inclined well.”

“The inability to case the well in the main reservoir section combined with potential plugging of near wellbore fractures with lost circulation material likely meant that future testing would be compromised.”

Now the bit that contradicts everything Pboo has been trying to say…and remember this is from UKOG themselves

“Over the next six months, the Company embarked on an extended well test across the identified KL zones (KL0-KL5). The first four tests were conducted over the original 4-zone production completion. Each test covered multiple peforated sections which included significant sections of interbeddedd fractured KL shales. Acidisation was therefore not selectively administered to any specific limestone horizon. Whilst the results of the tests showed inflows indicating some initial permeabilty together with natural gas blows, the results were disappointing.

It was concluded that during the significant pressure draw-downs associated with the test’s coiled tubing lifting methodology, the fractures within the predominantly shale test sections closed-up, reducing permeability effectively to zero.”

Holmwood has been a disaster. 11 years spent trying to drill a well in a conservation area is just crazy. Europa wasted millions (and part of that would be paid for by partners) trying to drill from the wrong site.

Nothing really changes until a new site is identified and most importantly planning permission given. So this is years away from anything happening.

Angus should not have wasted money buying into this project especially with its history. Brockham and Balcombe are the company makers.

Northpussy - yes your company posting history speaks volumes. I think you will make more money in Angus at this SP than UKOG which seems stuck in a rut even with all the activity in the lay-bys.

Well seeing how the RMP SP went from 2p up to 5p and then from 1.5p up to 7p.....if you aren't on a free carry then you're not investing correctly.

Baits - contract negotiations have now begun which means that they will now commence the rig inspection as I said before.

The rig update had already been discussed earlier on the board.

Baits - we are in March...the rig will be available in April, rather than the rig is available now.

You have to go and physically inspect the rig (company like MODUSPEC will do it) and ensure it is fit for purpose.
Then you have to go through the contract and iron out who is obligated for what right down to meal costs, accommodation, fuel costs, high use equipment replacement costs, down time penalty costs, insurance etc.
